Why are Marlins doing this?

I mean Burger isn't great or anything, but he hit 29 HR's, was well like in lockerroom and is cheap with team control for years to come
i would say obviously because the marlins are an unserious franchise who don't care about winning, but burger was still under club control for another 4 years. so even more hilarious/sad

these poverty franchises literally exist just to serve as farm teams for the big clubs

I feel like Allen Iverson man.

Were talkin bout Jake Burger and a MLB team being a poverty franchise or farm team for others becuase they had the gall to trade him and his 0.5 WAR.

The guy's incredibly mediocre and will be 29 to start the season. Which ain't old but there's no real upside to him at this point. Like what are we talking about here...he's a DH who can't hit for average or OBP.

Why'd your White Sox trade him when he hit 25 homeruns for them for a guy who's pitched 2 innings since being acquired?

because there's no good reason for the marlins (who just went 62-100) to trade a guy who hit 29 HRs and hit .250 when he's under club control for another 4 years?

Because organization still thought Moncada was capable and expected him to return and take over 3B when he got healthy. Burger also is awful defensively so 3B is not ideal but Sox still believed in Andrew Vaughn at 1B

Also Eloy was expected to move to DH so another spot Burger would not have had open

Burger isn't good or anything but he seemed to find fit and team with spot for him in Miami and he is dirt cheap right now and has years of team control which again adds to the "Why are Marlins doing this"

Why pay Burger 760K when you can pay those 3 guys less than half of that combined in the minors? Cost cutting is never out of season

103 OPS+ for a DH.

He's not even good. The Marlins could realistically actually be better by replacing his at bats in house.
