We all know about the 1994-95 New Jersey Devils, the 2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes, and the 2013-14 Los Angeles Kings, all winning the Stanley Cup in their respective years, but missing the playoffs the year after.

What I'm wondering, is if there were ever any modern-era teams to win the Stanley Cup the year after missing the playoffs?

Devils won in 94-95. Avs only have 2. Don't be shorting us one.

Both the Blackhawks and the Nords/Avs were only 2 years removed from missing the playoffs. They both had solid playoffs the year before though.

Had to dig into this one to make sure you weren't trolling, given the fact that the previous season (04-05) would have technically been the lockout year. But they did indeed miss the playoffs in 03-04.
