Second line is going to play a big role. I expect a lot from these guys going forward but it is going to be a big problem if they can't bring scoring in this tournament. Top line bears comparision.

This is a good skating team at least.

There was a stealth add of Rocco Grimaldi. Put he, Garland, and Farrell on a line and watch the fun commence!

Sad in a way but both Tynan and Grimaldi would be stars in Europe. Good additions in that sense.

Walman chose Canada and that's good. He clearly wanted that more.

Who's next? Gage Quinney and Matt Kiersted...

Don't really understand the Grimaldi addition. Sure, he fits in here given the team makeup, but we have enough players already to ice a full lineup. Why not just hold those last 3 spots on a hope and a prayer that some quality players are eliminated early in the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs and actually want to play? It's a longshot of course that we'd get 3 but I'd rather take the longshot chance to drastically improve the roster than add another guy that fits in but doesn't change the makeup of the team on paper.

That said, if he can Christian dad the team into prioritizing the games instead of partying there's that at least.

I don't think they can really have a single reason to expect someone to come.

I don't really like mid-tournament additions. Very often they don't reach their level like with Boldy and Hartman last year and in the worst case they just shuffle the team. It's already hard to build chemistry in a few games anyway.

Perunovich will be an interesting player to watch. He won the Hobey Baker a couple years back but his pro career has had some bad luck with injury. I think he clearly must be feeling good right now if he was able and willing to accept the call. Probably the player with the most to gain if he has a good tournament.

I tend to agree. Just go with the horses you have.

I wonder if they've already asked the likely (and even unlikely) candidates who are still active in the 2nd round and the answers were no.

I think we'll get some good offensive punch from the blueline. It's kind of a cast of misfit toys but the overall identity makes sense. Strong skating and skill. Might translate well to this tourney.

They asked about 300 players who said no. LOL.

I'd be surprised if they do. I imagine the international teams do because they (federations and players) highly value this tournament and their national team management and staff have little to no connection to the NHL.

The US and Canada management are usually all coming from NHL teams, sometimes teams still in the playoffs (for example, 3 GMs of teams still in the playoffs are on our WC advisory staff). And our coaches are NHL guys, too. I can't imagine it would go well if it came out that USAH in partnership with NHL coaches and staff members were "undercutting" an NHL team in the playoffs.

I think it's more that they have no expectations (understandably so) that any 2nd round exits (at least the ones worthy of waiting on) would play. We only had 2 players sign up from the first round exits and that was a bigger pool of players to go after.

I think we only got 1 player from first round eliminations, Samberg. So if we only got 1 damn player to answer the call after the first round, I would imagine the expectations are a negative number after the second round.

Maybe Rabid or WB can answer, my memory has gone downhill with all these epic teams we have sent lol...but didn't Pavelski show up after a 2nd round elimination one year? I remember him and Suter did as well...but I could be off on that...

Does Farrell now play center? I thought he was a LW...not like it really matters with this group lol

You ever see cockroaches run away when a light gets turned on? I imagine that is what all the eliminated players do when they see a call coming in from USA Hockey....apparently non playoff players too...

I thought you were a New Yorker...been to FLA a bunch never seen a cockroach while there, been to NY a few times and those things should have been their state bird! Holy hell...

American NHLers= cockroaches

I left NY for Costa Rica 10 years ago, then moved to Florida 7-8 years ago and haven't left *yet*. One day.

I believe JvR came in 2011 after the Flyers lost to the Bruins (round 2)

Pavelski came in 2009 when Anaheim upset them (round 1)

Ummm let me think if I can remember anyone else
