its strange how almqvist, pilut, jonsson-fjällby, brännström, jacob nilsson, elias pettersson, lias andersson is close to whc but they where not even on the olympic team. everberg/c.klingberg was benched in some games in olympics but here they are fighting for a spot in whc. grönborg is truly weird.
The depth we have in Europe is good with a mix of veterans, returnees from North America and prospects. But it's lacking in high-end quality(relatively speaking), so I see it as natural you can see vastly different players suddenly competing, many of them are interchangeable on a regular day(people will have their preferences, but that's about it). It probably has a lot to do with form and hunger really, these guys are younger and they want to prove themselves and are willing to do it by playing many exhibition games and won't mind eating popcorn in the pressbox later on either.
In hindsight I would've rather seen Dahlin not play Olympics and get his chance here. But at least we will get to see some of the other guys you mention. Will be much more rewarding to get the chance here for a young player.
