Would be interesting to see every teams 93 born and younger teams, going off actual current ability (using WJC rules instead of WCOH rules... easier + seems more sensible, true perception of what would constitute an 'u-23' team right now):
Swedens for me:
F. Forsberg -- Rask -- W. Nylander
Burakovsky -- Zibanejad -- Rakell
W. Karlsson -- Wennberg -- Arvidsson
Eriksson Ek -- Lindholm -- Lindblom
Sundqvist
A. Nylander
Lindholm -- Brodin
Klefbom -- Forsling
Larsson -- Aho
Kylington
Ullmark
Lassinantti
Dansk
Yeah, would be interesting, but it will never happen. U23 are full pro teams, with a lot of NHLers, so no point to even follow that soccer way to make Olympics an U23 tournament.
The best player in the NHL right now Anisimov)
I think many Canadians underrated the level of Russian team.
Oh! Scorer-Ranking 1st Place = best Player????
Very easy view!
they could be doing a best-of-five series every 4 years, between NAU24 and Europe U24 imo, that could be a great marketing for the league
What do you expect from Canadiens? Russia is after coniderable times not competitive to Canada.
Look the recent Matches between Canada and Russia. The Russians has no Chance.
The big time of Soviet union is over!
Russia is not playing at full power because of the system problems.
I think Russia can beat Canada
Sure Russia can win Canada in 1 game, even Latvia can do it. It doesnt mean that Russia is even close to Canada's level overall. Russia's difference to Canada in guality is about same as Slovakia/Switserland compared to Russia.
there is no gap
You're right, it may be a chasm more than a gap.
Or they may be equally good. It's hard to say without them playing each other.
there is no gap
there is no gap
there is no gap
Please. The gap is apparent to the entire hockey world and the best-on-best results speak for themselves.
Your D have been putrid compared to Canada. Your two best D players of the future developed in Canada (Provorov, Sergachev).
If you want to stick your head in the sand and ignore that, your choice.
Some of your next best up and coming D men play in the WHL. The WHL has long been arguably the best junior league in terms of developing NHL calibre D men for decades. Minulin, Zborovsky, and Dmitri Zaitsev are currently playing in the best junior league for D men.
Right now the best Russian defenseman is Nikita Zaitsev, and he's a KHL guy. As to future, there are so many young Russian defensemen, playing in the MHL, VHL and KHL right now, so nobody can guarantee, that one day some of them will become even better, than Zaitsev. And it's a very high level.
Yegor Rykov for example is just 19, and he's a solid SKA starter, which isn't that easy, considering the team can buy any defenseman in the world outside NHL.
