Team Russia can win next OG18 or next World Cup?

What do you think ?:)

If Provorov and Sergachev pan out on Defense, they have a good chance at Gold in the next World Cup. Canada will still be favorites. USA will be up there provided they change management. Sweden isn't going anywhere either.

Team Russia roster OG18

Panarin-Kuznetzov-Radulov
Tarasenko-Malkin-Kucherov
Ovechkin-Anisimov-Gusev
Telegin-Namestnikov-Buchnevich

Provorov-Zaytsev
Tryamkin-Kulikov
Sergachyov-Ozhiganov
Voynov

I don't know - it can take d-men a little longer to hit their prime.

Sergachev, Zaitsev and Provorov will still be pretty young.

I think part of what makes Canada such a power is the lack of youth on their team. They still have enough talent but the experience as well to go along with it.

They don't get rattled easily like the North American team did.

Maybe they'll have a better chance in 2022.

Russia could win a 2020 World Cup, but clearly will not be the favourite. Russia probably is the favourite to win the 2018 Olympic tournament right now, though that isn't a reflection of the quality of Russia's best players.

We will see)
I must admit Russia in World Cup 16 played better than in Sochi or Vancouver)
There is positive changes)

Team Russia roster OG18 V2.0

Buchnevich or Dadonov

Provorov-Zaytsev

Yes its definitely not granted that Russia will make semi finals. Can Usa Swe and Fin seems more likely in 2020..

They need to greatly improve their defense and goalies if they hope to win those events. Until they do that they may be lucky to medal.

I think better.
IN OG10 Russia roster played many veru slow defenders like Nikulin and Korneev and Grebeshkov

Perhaps but an elite defenceman and an arguably elite defenceman (Markov and Gonchar) are worth more than a small group of potentially elite defencemen when it comes to actually winning. The 2018 Olympics are one year and four months away. Not a lot of time for Russia's young defencemen to develop.

you're right
Let's see how to play Provorov or Sergachev.
Zadorov began to play better?

Russia's defense is worser than it seems on paper. On paper theyr D is about same level as Switserland's Czech's Slovakia's Or Finland's, but on ice they are same level as Norway's even if theyr status is better. They have just gotten themselves to KHL/NHL status because they are from bigger hockey country so its easier for them. Honestly Russia doesnt have any defenseman who is better than lets say Jonas Holos even if he isnt big status player.

I like USA and Sweden's chances over Russia. Canada will be favourites in 2018 and 2020. Not a fan of the Russian Defense. Their biggest obstacle.

Anything can happen.

But I think the United States of America are the next nation after Canada that can win the next world cup or olympics. Especially the World Cup 2020 when players like Eichel and Matthews will be fully developed, but even for the next olympics in 2018. If they go with fast-skating team and with a good mix of players, I definitely like their chances to be in the finals with us.

nothing is set in stone, but now that the best Team Canada is in league on its own, I can't really imagine any team beating our best roster. The 2018 olympics will also see something we haven't seen for a long time. We'll be having Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid on the same team.

Anyone can have a bad tournament, and lose when it matters. So can Team Canada, absolutely. And anyone can have a great tournament and perform its absolute potential, and beat us even if we played well. Russia definitely can win the next olympics. The chances are higher for us, but until it's done, it's not done.

Well considering NHL players probably won't be going to the Olympics in 2018 I would say their chances are pretty good.

Russia's player development has declined last 10 years. They dont produce super stars like Bure Fedorov Khabibulin etc or level of this Datsyuk Malkin Kovalchuk etc generation. Theres much problems in Russian hockey and they have fallen to 4-6 in hockey hierarcy. In juniors they do much with team play tight defensive counter attack style with good goaltending, but inviduals are not great. Its important for Russia to be able to produce some new elite players now to be able to sneak into semi finals in real big tourneys in 2020's. Eventough Russia might get better results in future olympics if they can play same kind of game as in world junior tournaments with not so great inviduals trap and counter attack.
