Cambot stole our hearts as the most favored Lundqvist backup of the decade.

Below are the NYR player stats for the decade... (Note, the second half of the 09-10 season is not included in these stats, unfortunately)

Ada still has crap D and it was real crap last year. His 1 and q quarter season with only half his game being NHL level for a chunk of it...does that best Klein who was good for periods and sucked for periods over 3 seasons? Does it best sauer who was here for about the same time as ADA and was always great before being retired?

Tough. I'll give it to sauer. Better overall than Ada and Klein by a good amount. Played about as long for us as ADA has.

If Ada had this whole season then I'm guessing I'd vote ada

Looks like ADA may be well on his way to getting the most voted for 7th dman, though we will have to see.

Picking Sauer simply because I think we'd have won the Cup in 2014 with him. At that point in his career he'd have likely been playing ahead of Girardi.

Except he didn't and that's a pretty big assumption.

For reference, Klein played about 225 games for the Rangers. DeAngelo 120 and Sauer 100. I'd go DeAngelo here, and I'm a big Klein fan.

We tend to deify players whose careers ended early before they got big contracts or declined. There's no certainty Cherepanov was going to be a star or that Sauer would have been successful after the Tortorella firing.

2k2 and I were on the Sauer team from day one but I don't think he deserved votes here.

Between Klein and DeAngelo for me. I went with Klein. Clutch player---real good defensively and he was a gamer. Tony for certain is better offensively though.

I never liked Dan Boyle. He was selfish and a primadonna. Loved Mike Sauer but he played less than 100 regular season games. Shattenkirk was a disappointment here.

Klein's last season was terrible so that's why I went with ADA. I'd be interested to see this poll at the end of the season because we'd have similar GP from ADA and Klein's first 2+ seasons with the team.

Same. I absolutely LOVED Klein. His decline was tough to watch, but still. Even then, I would choose ADA.

I voted for Sauer because I've always had a soft spot for the guy and he was excellent in his short time here. That McDonagh-Sauer pairing was a thing of beauty. And of all the RDs listed here, I think Sauer was the best shutdown D of the bunch.

However, I was hesitant to cast my vote for him due to his shortened career, and Klein was a very close second due to his longevity.

Went with Tony D. Had trouble deciding between him and Klein.

I think Tony does more offensively with less around him, so went with him ultimately.

Sauer was great for a while but too short a while. Not his fault of course but it is what it is.
