1 handed hockey probably hurts Finland more than it helps them.

This thumb thing hasn't been confirmed - but there definitely is an injury: he still had his magic moves on the open ice but was noticeably careful near the boards and didn't have his full impact in the game. But still looked pretty great at times...

Our team is on finals and last message to the topic is 2 days ago. What the **** guys?

For me winning this competition means much more than success in World Championships.

Indeed, I tend to agree here. The WHC doesn't mean all that much in the grand scale of things (the future of the Finnish hockey). The WJC (u20) and the U18 WC mean much much more. Of course some prefer to see the vets year in year out, but for me personally, I find the other two tournaments much more fascinating. You have a chance to see the potential NHL stars in the makings. We are battling for the gold once again, which is another indicator of the great state and the future of Finnish hockey. I can live without watching the WHC games, would prefer not to miss any in U18 and I would re-arrange my schedules for the WJC if needed. That's how I rank these tournaments. Anyway, pretty thrilled about the game already!

My quick impressions:

The first line was good and Vesalainen/Ikonen did show off their skill. Nyman was fine but did fail to capitalize on some plays that he should have scored on. One problem this line did have was a failure to establish a net front presence which was especially obvious in the gold medal game. Furthermore they often tried to be too fancy, especially on the power play later in the tournament, instead of going for the safe play.

Our 2018 draft eligibles impressed me and showed off nice skating, puck handling and passing. If they continue to develop the 2018 draft might not be completely devoid of talent on our part.

With regards to our defence our first pairing was impressive and there isn't really anything more to say that hasn't already been said, and then there wasn't much else. Especially Teräväinen was frustrating to watch, he failed to cover his man in front of the net on multiple occasions and often carried the puck into an opposing player leading to turnovers. Räsänens poor skating was also exploited several times.

Overall I'd say the tournament went quite well and the result was satisfactory, especially considering the players we were missing. We just ran into a better team in the final.
