It was 2014.

The Coyotes missed the playoffs completely.

Then, he picked against the Kings in round one, round two, and round three in 2014. Having finally come to his senses, he picked the Kings to win the Stanley Cup in five games. Will give credit where it is due, he finally got it right where no one else did (in terms of 4-1 winning series).

Slovak hockey has taken a dump, probably why they couldn't even field a Slovak team and had to merge it with the rest of Europe.

10-15 years ago the team would have been loaded with Slovaks. Palffy, Demitra, Satan, Hossa, Gaborik, Visnovsky, Chara, Handzus, Bondra, Stumpel.

German hockey also never took off like many thought it would.

team europe is weak, but not because of lack of quality. it's an artificial team with no identity, no pride, nothing to fight for.

they will have to compete against 6 teams with strong national pride and long rival traditions. plus against u23 north american team full of talented youngsters eager to prove themselves.

it's mostly an entertainment tourney, nhl sponsored.
