Why do you think they'll wait until next summer?

I guess we agree that Matthews will sign in July 2018, as will Laine.

To spread it out. Though if they sign Nylander to a bridge I could see marner as an extension

Snubbed cause he played on the ****ty Oilers. Much like everyone else saw him as a one dimensional streaky winger until he carried the Devils.

80% of posters here on HF thought the same of him as Team Canada did.
I couldnt help but lol at the revisionist history. At the time it seemed like it was oiler fans and a minority of other fans vs the world arguing he should make it.

Granted they ended up getting gold so aint complaining.

I have my doubts MacKinnon goes. Guessing he wants to heal up, had that shoulder injury later in the season. Hopefully Marner goes though

Curtis McElhinney...well, that settles it then. gold medal is in the bag.

We have a few Mcs..could we get at least one Mac, please.

McElhinney is better than Kuemper for sure, still would've preferred Cam Talbot but it seems that he declined this year. Not complaining, we were concerned about goaltending last year and hooooly did Pickard prove us wrong, im sure McElhinney will do an okay job.

Well, Canada's goaltending is going to be pretty weak but it probably isn't a very big deal. The level of the tournament isn't all that high and most goaltenders look good if the team in front of them plays well (as seen in Canada's last few tournaments). If Peters has an effective system then goaltending likely won't be the problem.

They took Pageau and Beauvillier over Huberdeau. Don't know why they haven't asked Huberdeau, guy seems interested in playing this year and every year he just racks up more goals and points.
Maybe the coaching staff of Team Canada wants to keep together the line of Beauvillier-Barzal-Eberle? Beau scored 17 goals in the 2nd half of last season. Already a lot of chemistry between these players.

Russia will play without Zadorov,Panarin,Tarasenko,Antipin,Bobrovsky,Barbashev,Radulov,Kovalchuk,Provorov,Namestnikov and etc
