I like the Beauvillier add, but its timing (days after the other Islanders were announced) makes me think that there have been several refusals at forward. Giordano not being asked doesn't shock me. He's getting old (still a very good defenceman) and he's given out a lot of refusals. His refusal in 2016 was particularly bad.

Beauvillier add is ok, but Pageau ?!Looking very underwhelming on the forward front. Not particularly too thrilled with the Beauvillier and Pageau additions but I'll be waiting on Beauvillier to prove my doubt wrong.
there's what we have so far. I think it's fair to say the McDavid effect has been negligible.
but Benn and Seguin would be nice with ROR.

I really like Beauviller, he was the guy I wanted to draft in 2015, but Beauvillier before Drouin ? I'm not sure
I dont think Drouin met the media today. So its possible he got invited and accepted.

Maybe they view Beauvillier as a potential penalty killer?
is he really a PK player ?
I didn't expect players to line up just because McDavid was going. His name doesn't have that cachet at this point. I like the forward group thus far. Adding two elite forwards would make it more than adequate, as I see three centres that are elite for their roles at this tournament and at least two high end complementary players. That Pageau addition is a waste and somewhat disappointing to see, but there is always at least one head scratcher.
We'll see who gets added over today and tomorrow, plus there will be some good available talent after the first round. Philadelphia has a lot of good options, San Jose could be big, Colorado and Toronto have good candidates. Filling out the defence is key now. The core of the forward group is fine at the moment.
Hamonic also declined.
Its possible but its hard to believe that his name doesn't have that cachet at this point, 3 NHL seasons and 2 Art Ross Trophies is pretty much unheard of. He's also captained Canada to gold at this tournament before too.
McDavid is the best player in hockey, but the vast majority of NHLers are older than him and he hasn't won much yet. It takes time to build a superior reputation and impress the world's best players to the point that they want to follow. He wasn't the captain of the gold medal team in 2016, but he was a solid contributor.
I suppose that's true, and oops looks like I was thinking about McDavid captaining Canada to 2015 IIHF World Juniors instead.
