Pietrangelo has refused before, though it is understandable. The reason I am ruling him out this year has already been discussed. His wife miscarried last year but she is now pregnant with triplets. Given that I doubt that he's going to go overseas for weeks.
I think everything is possible.
In last year Pietrangelo play in World Cup. Two international tournaments too much for many players

I hit reply to the wrong post. but with regards to Horvat, I'm not thrilled that he's an early invite. I would have preferred if that particular addition came after the 1st.rd invites/declines.

I think he'll be quietly effective. He showed well at one of Canada's most disappointing WJC tournaments and plays a very mature game for his age. I'm also expecting him to take a leap forward next year in Vancouver.

Yeah, it is beginning to look like Drouin is not in their plans.

I am afraid Drouin has a bit of a bad rep around the league these days now, especially among the management club side of things in the league now. He just went through a real difficult season in Montreal where he really didn't play well at all forced into an unnatural position for him and plenty of people thought he threw in the towel effort wise about halfway through the season. Couple that with the baggage from the tampa debacle and my guess is that Hockey Canada is wary of him and doesn't see him in a very positive light at this point in time.

Too bad, he's a really talented guy, with his head on straight and in the proper role he could be a consistent 65-70 point guy in this league and could add a lot to a Team Canada at this type of tournament.

I hope so...and now that he'll be part of the team I'll be a Horvat fan. We'll see how it goes.

Horvats a good player, won't wow anyone with silky smooth take you out of your seat plays but solid all around and he does have decent skill, he's a good add here.

Seguin and Benn probably not going? What do you think?

I think that there is a decent chance but that it isn't likely. 25% maybe. Seguin has never been big on international hockey, plus he's already won this tournament. Benn hasn't been to this tournament in six years, but he did say that he would go in 2015 before he found out that he needed surgery.

I like the Beauvillier add, but its timing (days after the other Islanders were announced) makes me think that there have been several refusals at forward. Giordano not being asked doesn't shock me. He's getting old (still a very good defenceman) and he's given out a lot of refusals. His refusal in 2016 was particularly bad.
