Team Canada does not need players from Quebec to ice a competitive team. Would the team have been worse had they iced Lindstrom and Sennecke instead of Gauthier and Cataford? It would probably have been better off.

Hockey Quebec, however, needs a shot in the arm. The corruption, terrible culture, high costs for families, and lack of infrastructure has hurt the sport in the province, and that is hopefully in the process of being fixed. But on top of that, it would probably help if the sport had more flag-bearers. The Habs stopped showcasing local talent a long time ago, the Nords are long gone... perhaps a team at the World Juniors could do the trick. Scotland and Wales can get soccer teams, why not Quebec? Especially since, as I mentioned earlier, it wouldn't really hurt Team Canada.

Can anyone more familiar with the LHJMQ craft a team that could have competed in this year's WJC? I'll get it started, but this is only from stats.

Gauthier - Boisvert - Poirier
Cataford - Blais - Carbonneau
Zonon - Desnoyers - ???
Vermette - ??? - ???

Fortier-Gendron - Lavoie
Morin - Brunet
Usereau - Bernier

Charrois
Lacelle

Oh boyyy….

Stats aren’t a way to do it.

Gauthier in my opinion was a bright spot.

HQ has many issues that they are now aware of and things are starting to roll but very slowly. It’s been in the papers and everything. It’s going to be Atleast 5-10 years before the trickle comes in.

From there the goalie crop is actually supposed to be the best in decades and what’s wild is none of them will make it until 2027.

Gabriel D’aigle is supposed to be really good but I think someone else passed him. Also Will Lacelle is a legitimate goaltender with a real chance of being the starter in 2027 and could make it next year.

Carbonneau, Zonnon and Desnoyers could actually play starting roles or be contentions cuts. Serious players though. I don’t know the rest but Alex Huang and Nic Taillerfer are guys to watch, Huang looks really good and could be a higher pick next year last I checked.

Anyways, it’s coming but not yet.
