Normally the week prior to TD is busier than the actual day itself. While we wait for maybe the first big deal Caps and LAK..I'm shocked nothing else has happened.

This time last year were a lot of deals already. I believe it's a 4 headed monster..holding it up. Duchenne, Stone, Panarin, Bobo. I think if one or more of those names go off the board we will see a flurry.

Thoughts?

Its Stone Duchene and Panarin that is holding the market up. Until something happens with those guys, it is going to be a boring week.

Ott is completely incompetent and its holding everything up. They gave themselves 5 days to make 3 gigantic deals and they don't even know which of the 3 they are trading or not. That's totally mental. As long as those guys are in limbo its hard for much else to happen.

The longer this goes on the more likelihood that we will see some rentals not be moved at all because teams ran out of time.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that 2 of the big 4 (Panarin, Bob, Duchene, Stone) do not get moved. Also going to predict underwhelming returns for most of the mid tier rentals. Buyers market will lead to underwhelming returns, or teams holding onto the player entirely.

More sellers than buyers and the prices are all high because many of the selling teams are technically still in striking distance of the Playoffs. The whole Western Conference is 2-3 points out of a Playoff spot and nobody wants to overpay on the first move.

Well said, Ottawa is such a mess. I haven't seen something this mismanaged since my nephew's snowball company.

What deals were already done by this time last year?

This year, we have already had Muzzin and Boyle.

Pittsburgh’s trade with Florida was also a pretty good one with multiple things going each way.

But other than those 3, you are right. It has been boring.

Sellers are waiting for the offers to improve. Buyers are waiting for the sellers to get desperate. Fenton is playing with legos and can't be bothered.

Yep, you will see most of these guys get moved on Monday and probably below what most people expected in the market.

Only could name a handful of teams with a legit chance to win the Stanley Cup. I think teams GM’s understand this and one rental won’t change that for the majority of the teams. I think it ends up that the sellers are getting whatever they can get come Monday for some of their rentals.

you do realize players are not pieces of meat and this is real life, not EA Hockey 2020? Rarely do we have agreements on both sides about the price given up for the best player in the deal. It is not just about making the playoffs, it is about winning the cup and I think we will more sellers than buyers because there some very strong teams and when a team wants to go all in, luck should have nothing to do with it. TB looks real good and Boston and the NYI look very balanced. Some teams may not want to mortgage their future with the hope they get lucky in the playoffs

What are you saying..I can guarantee you 1 or 2 guys off that list will be traded. Duchene is all but a guarantee, stone we will see if he rejects sens offer...the odd 2 are Pan and Bob. CBJ can keep them and maybe go on a run but then huge risk they lose them in UFA for nothing.

Yep this.

Plus we're only on Weds. Things could change significantly between 2 hours from now and Friday afternoon and then on Monday again.

Muzzin to TOR
Boyle to NSH
Talbot to PHI
Spooner to VAN
McLeod to NSH

Stone will stay, Duchene will be either an islander or a pred. Bob and Panarin stay. Dzingel is traded.

If the Muzzin deal happened 48 hours before the deadline, it the biggest deal along with the big 3 rentals.

Now we’ve got Muzzin, Coyle, Boyle, and the aforementioned Brassard/Bjugstad deal. That’s a lot of movement at this point.
