Reported widely TBL has now waived Conacher ($0 against Cap), Condra ($300k against Cap if not picked up by anyone), and prospect Joel Vermin ($0 against Cap). 20 year old Brayden Point looks to have secured a roster spot and will play on Johnson's line until Kucherov gets re-signed.

Would love to see someone take Condra.

Interesting group though. I haven't seen Conacher in years, but Vermin and Condra can definitely play in the NHL.

Vermin should be an NHL player. Wouldn't be too surprised if he is claimed.
I don't think he will be right now, but he'll definitely see the NHL this season one way or another

Agreed. Vermin will be in the league. Probably would have made it this year, but just ran up against a log jam.

I'd hate to see him get picked up.

Condra is actually a good guy to have on the 4th line. Tab bit pricey though for capped our teams.

You're right. He never really fit in TB though. A little too vanilla or something. I think he'll be fine somewhere else, but TB's pretty deep at the moment.

No surprise about Condra. He never found a spot on this roster with Brown, Boyle and Paquette. Shame about Connacher. I really wanted him to find his game again with this team but he just isnt nhl material it seems.

Vermin on the other hand, will get claimed by a team if they need a 4th liner. That kid has some real skills that can translate if given some more time to mature. He needs another year as a tweener imo, so his best spot would be to go to Syracuse and be with the team he knows, but I could see a team needing someone grabbing him like what happened to Panik 2 years ago. I don't want to lose him.

Condra wouldn't be bad for a team that needs depth at wing but at the same point he has two years left on a 1 way deal. I haven't seen much of him in Tampa, but in Ottawa I think it is fair to say he was decent but earned his 3 year deal with Tampa off of a very good second half of his contract year playing alongside Pageau when almost everybody on the Sens were firing on all cylinders rather than having earned his 3 year deal based on his entire body of work in Ottawa. It says something that Ottawa wasn't willing to match the 3 year term Tampa gave him to keep him (he was apparently willing to stay if they did) and Tampa has now waived him. For whatever reason, a segment of posters on the Sens board go crazy for Condra. Condra not being re-signed was talked up by some posters as a move so controversial that it only rivalled Edmonton trading Gretzky. (okay, obviously I am exaggerating.)

At the time Conacher signed his contract, I speculated that it was a 1 way deal to ensure he'd get a comparable salary to what he'd get in Europe if he were to be waived. Because he still makes less than 950k, even know the deal is a 1 way deal, it costs Tampa nothing cap wise. It's a shame that he's had such trouble sticking in the NHL, I enjoyed him as a Senator and felt that he worked hard on the ice and was a decent pesky 3rd/4th liner. Seems like a guy who would be good enough to be a regular bottom 6er if he wasn't hobbit sized. You've got to be like Zuccarello good if you want to make it as a hobbit in a men's league. I'd be thrilled if Ottawa claimed him just because I am a fan of his, but at the same time I'm not going to pretend I've seen him play at all since he left the NHL so him being waived is probably the right move.

Yeah it seems like many of the guys placed on waivers in the last few days were fringe AHL/NHL guys, whereas Condra has proven he can play at this level - he just makes a little too much money, and that extra year on his contract could hurt.

Honestly, I can easily see a scenario in which he clears waivers and gets traded with the Lightning either retaining salary or taking back a cheaper contract (or one with less term) in return.

Waiving Condra also saves us a good chunk of cap space. Hope he gets claimed though.

Point has been fantastic, and should be on this team.

That said, dominos. I'm sure someone like Ottawa will put in a claim for Condra. I never really liked the guy, so I can't say I'll be sad to see him go.

I really don't think they will.

I would trade him with a 6th to the Islanders for Paranteau. Islanders don't have a 6th this year so they get a pick to take on the extra year of Condra's contract as both players make the same this year. Or to Boston + 5th for Griffith, Boston doesn't have a 5th so they get a pick and we have a cheaper 13th forward and no cap penalty if he's interested the A.

Wish Chicago had more space as I would trade him for McNeil. With Point making the team we need a top 6 AHL center which McNeil can be and Chicago would get a more experienced 13th forward, they have a lot of kids on the bottom 6.

Not really unless he gets claimed. We get roughly 250k in savings. You get a 925k savings when you send him down so we are stuck with a 300k hit then you have Point replacing him who makes 675k. So Point at 675 + overage at 300 equals 975 then 975 from 1.25 gives us 250k savings.

Ottawa will be stupid and claim him..he was so good on thier PK in the past they will still be hung up on fixing that stat. If a team below them beats them, it was a good move. Hes a great vet presence that can eat up man down minutes
