Foresight. They're doing a rebuild. If he plays as well next season, he's going to cost a lot. Why would a rebuilding team invest long-term in a decent middle-6 guy for 4-5M/yr. On the other hand, he goes back down to earth, and they can't trade him for anything of value.

Good move by the Hawks, selling high is always the move.

Yeah, I dont really get it either for a rebuilding team. Or one that should be rebuilding, anyway. Only explanation that makes sense is cashing in on an inflated market that might be out there. And I guess we will know soon if the return is way over the odds
