could you imagine if Auston Matthews did what Taylor Hall did last night...

1. you'd have a unanimous belief that Auston deserves to be suspended by every fanbase in the NHL. It would not be a question of if, it would be for how long.

2. DOPS would 100% reference the Todd Bertuzzi incident as the comparable, even though I think what happened last night was not nearly as violent.

This league is a f***ing joke. It's hard to even want to give them my money when they pull shit like this. I really don't believe Taylor should be suspended beyond 1 game, but I just cannot imagine the length this suspension would be had the situation been reversed. It's actually f***ed up.

We are consistently on the shit end of every one of these rulings. Comps do not apply when it comes to rulings for/against the Leafs. They are completely disregarded
@JT AM da real deal speaks the truth when he says this is a Jacobs run league but it seems his opinions don't get much traction in these discussions. Until this changes, Leafs will be on the shit end of the stick every time. The DOPS is flat out trolling us at this point and our management does not speak up.

Fine Ray, if you want us to buy that what Matthews did was far more egregious.

The why do this:

and this:

get nothing?

I'm not one drop bombs here but F@#$! does that get me going!

Unbelievable.

Is the Montreal guy trying to knock himself out so he can stop the beatdown?
LOL. He just might be, kb.

Also kinda looks like he's striking the Thinker's pose as in: WTF am I doing awake tangling with this dude? Gotta go to sleep, gotta go to sleep - happy place, happy place, going to my happy place.

46.15 Match Penalty - Any player wearing tape or any other material on his hands (below the wrist) who cuts or injures an opponent during an altercation will receive a match penalty in addition to any other penalties imposed including for fighting under this rule.

A match penalty shall be assessed to a player who punches an unsuspecting opponent and causes an injury.

46.1 Fighting – A fight shall be deemed to have occurred when at least one player punches or attempts to punch an opponent repeatedly or when two players wrestle in such a manner as to make it difficult for the Linesmen to intervene and separate the combatants. The Referees are provided very wide latitude in the penalties with which they may impose under this rule. This is done intentionally to enable them to differentiate between the obvious degrees of responsibility of the participants either for starting the fight or persisting in continuing the fight. The discretion provided should be exercised realistically.

In the same section, if the refs were calling it to the letter it says punches repeatedly, which Hall threw one punch (i think). In order for 46.15 to be called, it has to fit the 46.1 criteria first. If Hall only threw one punch, I cant remember if it was one or more, then no this does not constitute Fighting, which means 46.15 is not applicable.

I think it’s Keefe not allowing the players to fight back. I’m sure Clifford and simmonds are game as f***, but the coach is saying “just ignore it, fighting back isn’t going to change anything”
That is why I said I wished Keefe would of released him.

There really is a time to fight back and stand up for each other. Put it this way,..If it was us doing that,..the other team would of most likely stepped up right away.

I don't like being too politically correct, and sometimes when a cheek is slapped, another cheek should be slapped back just to say..look we are standing up for our right to fight, so let's party and do the dance rather than trying to hide behind the rule book. Now,...they will be looking for one of team members for our next meeting in order for no retaliations...games later. Do the nasty now, get it over with. (just that it isn't in our mindset to stand up for one another) I wish it would change for us, but as I said earlier..wish we had 1 goon but for now I guess I gotta hope LYB gets back up and crushes Hall everytime he gets the chance.

I’d love to see Shanny drop the corporate nice guy routine and get back to his playing days and rip the DOPS. MLSE can afford the fines, time to kick up a stink

Which makes no sense. He's one owner, with one vote. I don't get how or why he holds so much power in the league.
Yep, the executive branch of the NHL is not a democracy. Go against the big players and you won't be around long. It's a business and JJ is the chairman of the board.

It sucks we even have to discuss these politics when the game is supposed to be fun/entertaining but it's getting tough for fans to ignore anymore.

Some of these guys need to get punch with their back turned to really see if it's worse than someone facing you and throwing one.
I had a friend get suckered almost exactly the same way. It broke his jaw and gave him a concussion. And this guy isn't made of glass, he was a hell of a boxer. I've had it done to me too, but was lucky that I only got a black eye. Anyone who doesn't think this is dangerous is either lying or hasn't been hit before. It's no joke. Especially when we saw a guy have his neck broken on a similar play years ago. I realise Moore probably broke his neck after getting slammed into the ice, but what if Lybushkin gets knocked out and face plants into the ice? You'd think Parros would remember what happened to him vs. Orr. Assuming Parros can even remember what happened an hour ago.

Is a $5000 sucker punch bounty on Ferraro's son ok with Ray?

I'm all for bringing back the Domi/Ulf sucker punch. Open season on any team's players. Leafs can afford the $5000 per.

Parros played 3 years with Manchester Monarchs, 1 hr down the road from Boston. Probably lots of buddies and skeletons down there. POS

Wrong .. it is a group of 10 owners minimum who vote with Jacobs (Jacobs gang) to keep their voice with Jacobs .. it is all based on a collective view of CBA/CAP and keeping player wages down and owners all formula profit positive .. da league is run like a dictatorship with Bettman as Jacobs frontman .. anyone who gets out of line gets bounced .. when it was a smaller league he had no influence when he got mad and Leafs and Habs told him to go back home and cry in his p*ss .. he is so cheap he sqeaks .. most of you guys are too young to really understand da history .. but those of us who grew up in hockey and played and who have kids who are currently playing understand exactly what is going on .. it needs a huge reform .. we can't continue on with Jacobs and that goof in Chicago runnign da show

The fact that a bunch of internet tough guys from the main board who've never thrown or taken a punch in their lives feel they have some valuable insight into how hard Lyubushkin got hit might be the most pathetic thing in all of this.

The old saying in boxing is true as can be "it's the punch you don't see coming that knocks you out".

This is an honest question, in what world does a retaliatory headshot(sucker punch) that causes injury anything other than a suspension?

This is an honest question, in what world does a retaliatory headshot(sucker punch) that causes injury anything other than a suspension?
In the world where it happens to a Leaf, where George Parros is DoPS and Jeremy Jacobs runs the league.

The main boards are honestly insane with how they're discussing this. Acting like the punch was a "slap" and Boosh went down easy

Please get sucker punched when you don't expect it and let me see how your steel chins hold up.

Between this case, the Matthews suspension and a couple other similar ones I'm now up to 60 people on my ignore list. Soon the main boards are going to be pretty quiet or much more tolerable!

DOPS exists to pretend to protect players and to cut down on concussions lawsuits now and the future.

The haphazard decisions just reflect it isn't actually about trying to protect players or have consistent rules.
