Guys, will we ever see the video.that was played for.tavares in the presention?

Understand that as a group we feel that bettman and the league has helped to screw the team over royally multiple times, so there is enormous long-term bitterness. Add to that Tavares' telling Snow not to trade him in February and giving the impression he wanted to remain with the Isles will destroy any capital he built with the fan base.

That said, TML have also not won much in a long time, so I do not begrudge them or their fanbase for adding a quality player, but that being said he was one of the primary reasons the NYI gave up 300 goals against this year.

He is very slow in open ice and is awful defensively; one of the reasons we hated capuano/weight was their decision to put JT out on the penalty kill, just lunacy - you guys need to have really fast, capable d-men to cover for him.

Who knows, this might work out in the long run for both franchises, as it will allow cap space to sign better d-men and a goalie for the NYI who need both more than a center.

I'm seeing the bolded posted everywhere, but I've found no evidence anywhere that it's true. Is there a good source stating this, or is this just one of those big fish tales that is being repeated so many times everyone's just taking it for granted as absolute truth?

Considering that Tavares has a NTC and NMC, I find it unlikely that he told Snow anything about trading him. At most, Snow would have gone to Tavares and asked if he would waive it and he said no, but that's an entirely different situation and one that Snow and co. only have themselves to blame for giving him that power.

okay. let's look at this.
Tavares took less money
Kadri + Morgan took less money

the argument is now, to the 3 -
y'all take a little less and let's make magic.

(and we'll obvy spend it on good things)

It's just sad to hear this, I don't even want to look at it. When Tavares was asked today about what his message was to NYI it was clear he was holding back tears. This decision was such a struggle for the guy and in the end, he decide to pursue a childhood dream. People crapping all over that is just disgusting.

No doubt a large part of the fan base is very angry, and justifiably so. Me, not so much as I did not expect him to re-sign with the team.

I just wish he was more forthright about his intentions in February, and that Snow either had more intelligence to recognize that possibility, or the freedom from the teams' ownership to have traded him. It is possible Garf wanted to, but was over-ruled by an inexperience team ownership to keep JT and that they would come in with the magic and convince him to stay. Regardless, it looks awful for both JT and the NYI franchise.

tavares said that snow told him they weren't gonna trade him, and he was glad, but i don't see anything that said he went to them (to the deadline) and said don't.

What the hell is this? Saved it. That piece of garbage should definitely be banned. He is unhinged.

Its interesting because even though we are both NYI fans he is the only poster I ever put on ignore in this forum. Shows how even the rest of us NYI fans think of him/her.

If I can find a link, I'll post it shortly. That said, he must have had extensive conversations with Snow, I cannot fathom the NYI not pressing him to sign an extension during the season.

Yeah, that's the closest I see, too. I also see Snow explicitly saying that Tavares and his camp was refusing to discuss a contract extension during the season, so if it was just a case of him telling Snow not to trade him, with the implication that he was going to re-sign with them (which I have no reason to believe), then it's really Snow's fault for being so gullible and stupid.

Look, I get Islander fans being pissed and upset over Tavares leaving (although the sexist comments about his fiancée and emasculating comments about Tavares himself are just :help:).

The thing that annoys me is all the fans of other teams who are running to their board and bashing Leaf fans. "Hey guys, sorry about Tavares. Now Leaf fans will be even more unbearable."

Like, get a grip. smh

The reality is that we'll probably never know the truth, and it will be a he said/she said story forever. If what you wrote is true, then either 1) Snow is a fool, even worse than I believed before 2) Snow was under orders by NYI ownership to not trade JT. Again, in either case it makes them look totally incompetent.

well we've seen that play before, like it's not gonna be done in the middle of the season. i don't thin that's selfish. either get it done, or wait (or work around the NO/NO and move him anyway).

Agreed. If Snow was ordered not to trade him, it will be a VERY costly lesson to the team's ownership for thinking they were magicians or special.

v. true. :) i was just answering the question

like honestly, i know what it's like to lose your face of the franchise. and it sucks more for y'all because Tavares still had a lot to give, (when we lost Sundin, it was really like the end of the line, but we still could have gotten a lot had he said sure trade me) and a lot of the stuff got gong-showy by the end with him and Fletcher.

i am really sorry that it ended in a sour note for y'all, i truly am, (because i was flat out certain he'd stay).

I would have to argue against Tavares being the primary reason for your last-place GA.

Personally insulting the guy/his family is juvenile nonsense from anonymous forum posters, as for the fans of the other teams that's best described as sour grapes, they're just jealous.

As for JT he is obviously a world-class offensive talent, but he will not help you defensively as he is no Bergeron or Kopitar. You will be giving up a lot more chances when he is on the ice than if you had an average-defensive skilled center.

Habs fan here, congrats guys for that great signing, Leafs were already scoring ton of goals, it going to be insane now with Tavares.. I have Leafs as clear favorite to win the cup at this point...

I have never forgotten nor will I. I have no sympathy for their fan base. Reading their thread they are advocating some scary things towards JT and his wife as well as all Leafs. Leopard never change their spots.

There are a lot of low class fans out there, in some fanbases more than others. Apparently more from Long Island.

The reality is that we'll probably never know the truth

If that's the case, then I really wish Islander fans would stop posting it as confirmed, undeniable truth. It's really annoying when such misinformation is pushed in the name of ripping the reputation of others who did nothing wrong.

I guess that's just the current climate we live in, but I really don't like it.
