With Demko back, I don’t know, a top 5 pick isn’t looking likely. This team is playing better hockey than at the start of the year despite the lapses, and our stars are being overplayed, I just can’t see us being bad enough to get a top 5 pick. The exception would be if we move out considerable talent at the deadline, or if we’re lucky enough to win a pick.

I think the people saying that were are likely to move to 10th in the standing or higher is dramatic. I don't think top 4 is realistic too. I think 5-8 is the most realistic. Once the Pettersson line which is on fire cools down. This team won't score and be able to outscore their problems, even if Demko stands on his head. The defence we are dressing outside of Hughes is putrid and I wouldn't be surprised if Miller and Bear are out long term if this goes on a losing streak.

This is like when Benning didn't trade Jannik Hansen when teams were after him and he single-handedly cost us Matthews and we all know who we got instead. Deja vu is happening. Pettersson is playing for a mega contract, 11 digits, he's not slowing down. We shipped out tank commander Martin and tankman Stillman.

We are currently 6th on points percentage. We need to pass 7 teams to get to 13th, a bunch of those are 11 points ahead. We'd need to go something like 17-4-0 to pass them all, even that might not be enough.

I think the Canucks will pass 7th Montreal, and one or both of 8th Philly (3 points) and 9th blues(4 points). 10th is Washington, one of the 11 point lead teams and is highly unlikely.

But look at our schedule. We have like 10 games left against bottom feeders. We desperately need to lose those games. Please please please, lose to the Hawks, Ducks, Yotes and Sharks.

In some ways, this is kinda like real life too. There are PLENTY of abhorrent people who are undeserving of things but get them anyways.
