why does it seem like the more we need to lose, the better this team is playing? we seem to be able to keep up with pratcially anyteam in the NHL right now despite, our defence is almost decimated, we got rid of Horvat, we are literally using our 4th string goalie right now, he suddenly looks like the second coming of Khabibulin, wtf. anyways, I should stop being a debby downer. Such a good tank day.

They just have to carry this type of play to the start of the season, the first 25 games is what is kills the Canucks season.

It's superstition rather than actual fact. The team has underperformed so badly, that many of the tank losses have already happened. Other than that Cali trip years back, they really haven't done any unexpected winning when a lotto pick was on the line. Every team in the league is gonna string together 2 wins, it's just a matter of when it happens that creates the narrative.

The tank is on, fear not.

Teams are putting in low effort against us.
Playing their 2nd goalies more often.
Also no pressure on the players because the season is dead.

It happens to us every year.

We will end up drafting our next Hughes & Pettersson during these next years, but not enough of a core to actually contend. Then those 2 players will be pointed at as the reason "We cant waste their primes. We cant actually rebuild."

Cycle of mediocrity.

Idly fantasizing about the ultimate, unrealistic meme outcome for this team Ian MacIntyre style:

Wolanin-Tryamkin (the Messiah returns, consoled by his countrymen to ignore the terrible stench of weed, and Wolanin somehow becomes a top 4 defender)

OEL is haunted in an Ebeneezer Scrooge-esque fashion by the righteous, terrible spirit of Rick Tocchet and LTIRetires. Boeser and Myers go literally anywhere else forever and leave me alone. if we get the NYI pick this year, we get Reinbacher, who is better than Moritz Seider. otherwise, they collapse next year and we win the lottery for the second year in a row, becoming the first nhl team to both win the Stanley cup and the draft in the same season. We use our incredible amount of cap space to get Byram from Colorado, who are still desperate for a 2c, for free by being the third party in a trade for Jonathan Toews. Michkov decides to not sign with the Blackhawks after his KHL stint, citing how much he hates the Blackhawks organization personally, and comes to play with Podkolzin and Bedard.

If we ice any worse of a lineup next season and don’t win the cup I’ll be miserable and unhappy, and will direct my negative energy towards Patrick Allvin.

CBJ blew a 2-0 lead in the 3rd to lose in OT but still get a point.

Arizona up 1-0 in the 1st so thats good too

Schenn is scratched.
Miller is out.
Bear is out.

Yet here we are not a single issue with our scoring.

Last year we desperately needed wins to try to sneak into the playoffs. We couldn’t win for shit when we needed it.

This year we need to lose, yet here we are 5-4 games. Scoring 4 or more and a regular basis and literally a top 8 scoring team in the nhl. We are good enough too finish in the bottom 5 but not good enough to even sniff the playoffs f this stupid team.
