Anyone have thoughts on the Tacki Mack Command grips versus tape? I am pondering on giving it a shot and just wondering what are some people's thoughts.
same...i use tennis raquet wrap now...you have to try it out if you like that self stick guaze...its like $4 for 2 rolls (each roll with mostlikey get you 2 wraps)...they last forever, are "tacki", and i dont have to replace my gloves every 2mos. now...i think its the "over wrap" that i use, but its just the really thin stuff and not those wraps with the foam stuff to make it thickerI've used the Tacki-Macs and personally they're way too thick for me. It both made the grip too big and deadened the feeling of the puck a bit. I do know they came out with thinner ones though and I imagine those are an improvement.
If you're willing to buy one just to try it I'd say give the Tacki-Mac a shot and decide for yourself. The grip on your stick is always completely personal preference.
(I switched to using SportsTape Guaze tape exclusively. Tacky and thin but without the goop from tape to ruin your glove palms.)
It's a matter of personal opinion, that's what I used to use, but I got tired of constantly having to replace the grip tape (tried Renfrew, 3M and Andover grip/cohesive tapes, all wore out really fast). The Tacki-Mac may cost as much as 2-3 rolls of grip tape, but those grip tape rolls are pretty tiny, I go through them very fast, save money in the long run with Tacki-Macs. Also, I simply prefer the feel of the Tacki-Mac sand grip to grip tape.my preference is tape and some grip tape from any local hockey store. way better than any tacki grips

I loved Tacki Mac grips in terms of stickiness and not wearing the palms...
This so much.
I've only been playing hockey for a little over 2 years, but the tape I was using on my stick wore through the palm of my glove on the top hand within 4 months. I built myself a hockey driving range, and try and shoot 400 or so pucks a couple times a week, and the tape just ate through that palm.
I put Taki Mac wrap grips on my sticks, and 19 months later, the palms on my gloves still look new, and the grips have been transferred between a couple of sticks.
They're a bit of a pain to get on, and annoying to take off and replace when you decide you want to shorten your stick a bit, but the savings in gloves alone is well worth it.

i found theres a big dif in doin your butt end with white tape rather than black tape, not as hard on your gloves
