Total destruction being essentially what the Death Star did to Alderaan. Some sort of cataclysmic, planet destroying cosmic event unknown to mankind.

I tend to think that short of complete obliteration of Earth, that humans are now technologically capable of living as long on this planet as will cockroaches and ants; maybe even longer...and the chances of humanity doing itself off completely is practically, if not actually, zero. If humans can escape the confines of Earth, there may be no end of mankind. There will be no stopping the spread of our BS then.

Agree / Disagree?

Before humans can achieve eternal life a meteor will destroy civilization and revert us back to cavemen. When the dust settles we will move back into the Pyramids and knowledge will start all over.

Disagree.

Earth wouldn't have to blow up to potentially become inhabitable to humans.

The idea that humanity can adapt or escape is largely dependent on what the threat is. Crops being eradicated with blight is very different from nuclear fallout, for example.
