Hello there! Me and some friends from Stockholm are traveling to NY this fall in november. We want to visit the MSG for the Rangers game vs Oilers on the 11th. My questions to you are: how do we get some tickets and when do we need to buy them, and from where? How's the pressure for tickets on Rangers games, and do they sell tickets near game-day? We want to ensure that we get tickets for the games since it's the only game that's being played while we're over there :)

Your help would be much appreciated!

Thx

You can buy tickets to the game up to an hour beforehand on stubhub and (I think) the ticket exchange, if it's a game during the week prices will probably be rock bottom

People sell tickets on this board as well. Helps avoid outrageous charges by these and other ticket reseller sights mention above.

Get your tickets in advance, get there early and get to a bar, go into the arena at 6:30 and get a drink and be settled at your seats to enjoy warmups and hangout. Basically, rather than being on time just always be somewhere a little bit early, rushing is never fun. It's a blast, enjoy yourselves.

Don't buy tickets outside MSG from people in street

When I was a little kid me and a buddy snuck in to the city to get Rangers vs Islander tickets. We paid good money and walked away with a Knicks vs Washington ticket and a ticket for that nights Ranger game (not the Islanders).

Surprisingly had a good experience with this once (probably the only one)

Bought two tickets online accidentally for the game at Barclays the week after the game at MSG, rather than that nights ranger game.
Didn't realize it until we were at the gate.
The guy scalped the hell out of the pair but they were legitimate.

This is McDavid's only appearance at MSG. I think he'll be a draw. Oh and it's a saturday night so I don't think it'll be cheap.

If this is your first time to NYC, I cannot stress this enough:

Look both ways when you cross any street in the city. Crazy cyclists, motorists, what have you. Have eyes behind your head, especially when you're in the area around MSG. It's like the Wild West there. Do not act and look like tourists. And don't stop to feed the trolls, aka panhandlers.

I am in the City all the time and have never felt unsafe, it's not the wild west come on.
This isn't NYC of 1990 anymore. It's more like Disneyland today than New York. Having said that, still always be on guard. There are idiots and scammers everywhere in every city.

True, but every time I'm running late for a game I wind up running into Ron Duguay who's a good laugh

The Elmos are fake!!!!

Quick story, did a NY outing with the fam, kids were about 5 and 4. We turn the corner and the police were doing a sweep of the cartoon characters. Mickey ****ing Mouse was being arrested. The kids started to cry, can't wait for the therapy bills....

What are you talking about?
