Sweden-Switzerland in the QF?

I am a bit tired but it looks like Sweden will play Switzerland in the QF, if Russia beats USA and Sui beats Italy. Sweden would then finnish 3rd in their group and Switzerland 2nd in their group.

The only thing I am not 100% sure of is the tiebreaking rules. Sweden can at best finish in a 3-way tie with Slovakia and Russia. All teams would have beaten each other so there would be a matter of goal differance. In the WCH, if its a three way tie, the goal diffrence is seperated and as first tie breaker they only count goals scored between the teams in the tie. Does anyone know for sure if its that way in the Olympics?

If thats the case Sweden will have to beat SVK with 3-4 goals to get a better difference then them and finnish 2nd(if Russia beats US).

Normally Russia is stronger then US. I hope they don't tank. Playing the Swiss instead of Canada would be god sent for this team...

Teams will be tired come QF. Sweden usually don't have any problems with weaker teams and could get a quit easy road to the semis.

Only to face a team that has their speed up from playing a quality opponent in the quarters. Facing one of the lesser hockey nations in a quarter is a double edged sword.

Remember everyone saying that the Russians are arrogant, selfish, play for the money and never melt as a team? Well, all those rumors are true.

Sweden, please take the 2nd spot. You deserve it. :D

However, one edge of that sword is significantly sharper than the other ;)

I don't see Sweden having any serious problems with the Swiss. Something along the lines of 3-1 or 4-2.
 
My Swedish friends, you must understand that you will beat either Canada or the Czech Republic. The odds are with you this time.

Russia's odds are against beating Canada or the Czech Republic, especially the Czechs since it's gonna be payback for 2002 time!

indeed my friend. Canada/czech are not, especially since they lost so many games already.
 
The Russians are too unsportsmanlike to win against USA. They will intentionally lose against them. So we must intentionally lose against Slovakia. *cough cough* :D

Ronnie Sundin, do what you are best at: being too slow and take penalties.
Jörgen Jönsson, do what you are best at: not being good with the puck.
