Who wins?

Hall of Famers: 6-1
Realistic present and future Hall of Famers: about 11-7

I’d say it’s Sweden on paper but that Finnish team could beat any team ever assembled.

No, but I'm curious as to how many games these teams would be playing against each other to afford Lundqvist a noteworthy opportunity to get injured.
Maybe someone else than Lehner should be the backup? Markström? Ullmark? Anders Nilsson?

Eye of Ra apparently tries to humiliate Finland again. We all know that Sweden has historically produced the better players on paper. Only in the last 10 years has Finland also improved on paper. Maybe I should do a Canada vs Sweden comparison. Just for fun! ;)

I’m not sure who had the better peak between Lehner and Markström, but quite honestly, Anders Nilsson has been great as Team Sweden starter for a couple of World Championships and is someone I feel gets underrated because of battling celiac disease which made him unreliable as an NHL starter, plus mostly playing for bad teams.

If he truly wanted to humiliate Finland, I feel he could have made it more transparently than picking the last 20 years. Finland’s offense has approached Sweden’s rapidly in recent times, and while you really have to squint hard to make the defensemen even close, I’d say Finland’s got something of a “who’s who” of underrated defensemen and unrealized potential due to injury on their roster where based on peak performance it’s much closer than name recognition would have it.

Take Lundqvist out of the game and you’re all set for an upset!

No man. Take a long look at the names on team Finland that i posted. Its a VERY good roster.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the result(poll) is clear. Why the poll?

You knew beforehand that the result would clearly go to Sweden. So why this choice?

Interrestingly you could compare Sweden + Finland's number of inhabitants (16 million) with Canadas 38 million. Imagine TWO Rantanen, Two Barkov, Two Hedman and so on. Two Aho, Dahlins and Landeskogs. Huvva. Or maybe three Erik Karlsson. Hockey culture in Sweden and Finland is strong!

But the NHL goals scored by swedes are 138 and finns 55.

If Team Finland and Sweden had twice the population: (more like Canadas population)

Gabriel Landeskog - Sebastian Aho - Mikko Rantanen
Patrik Laine - Mika Zibanejad - Elias Pettersson
Filip Forsberg - Alexander Barkov - William Nylander
Roope Hintz - Mika Zibanejad 2 - Mikko Rantanen 2

Victor Hedman - Erik Karlsson
Hampus Lindholm - Miro Heiskanen
Victor Hedman 2 - Rasmus Dahlin
Esa Lindell - Miro Heiskanen 2

Markström
Saaros
Ullmark

Quite a good team!

Red-white:

Jonathan Huberdeau - Connor McDavid - Mitchell Marner
Steven Stamkos - Nick Suzuki - Nathan MacKinnon
Brad Marchand - Sidney Crosby - Sean Couturier
Pierre-Luc Dubois - Bo Horvat - Brayden Point

Finland has Kiprusoff, Rinne and Rask in net. Even Niittymäki was ok in 2006 Olympics. Sweden probably is the favorite on paper, but less so than in 1998.
