Trust me, I've heard all types of Östgötska. Västgötska and Värmländska both share elements with Östgötska which he may have combined, but as an amalgamation it's still much closer to both V and V than Ö. No reason he should speak Östgötska either, he was born in Mariestad (Västergötland, close to Värmland) and lived and played/coached in Karlstad from age 17 until age 43. He coached Linköping for like two months, don't believe he picked up Östgötska in that time, especially that heavy an accent.
