How was Nylander? He's had a pretty timid start in the AHL which isn't surprising for an 18 yo in the AHL but I'm hoping a good WJC will boost his confidence for a strong 2nd half in Rochester.

He scored two goals but the only times I noticed him was both times he scored. He made a really nice play along the boards seconds before his 2nd goal though.

He had the third least amount of minutes among forwards though, which I found very odd.

Dahlin looks incredible. Wow. Can't believe this kid is only 16.

Sweden doesn't need more offensive defencemen, we have to find a way to develop elite forwards instead.

It's interesting how a lot of talented young swedish D have been dubbed the next Lidström in past years (Hedman, Larsson etc), but Dahlin might actually be the closest thing to Lidström that Sweden has had in all these years. Still a long way to go but as a 16 year old Dahlin is probably ahead of all of Hedman/Larsson/OEL/Karlsson and whoever else.

To be fair, Lidstrom wasn't really viewed as a future elite defenceman when he was 16-18. His biggest development years were between 21-24.

And Karlsson was somewhat of a surprise too.

Dahlin is a rare talent.

He is really good already and is going to be flat out amazing in two years.

Or....he's Alexandre Daigle.

Filip Ahl is the slowest player I have ever seen.

I raise you Jason Allison.

Isn't Liljegren injured? Or atleast not in a perfect shape for a tournament cause he hasn't played for a while, instead of Dahlin just singlehandedly outplaying him?

.

What elite D has come out the last 3-4 years? Lindholm is very good but feels a bit overrated, he is not in the same tier as of karlsson or Hedman. Karlsson and Hedman is 26, we need D if not for today then for the future, for the days after Karlsson and Hedman, otherwise we could get the same gaps there as we have got among the forwards.

We have Karlsson, Hedman, Brodin, OEL, Larsson and Lindholm for the next decade. On top of that a throng of defencemen between 16-19 with HUGE potential.

We lack truly elite forwards.

And a new Lundqvist.

It looks good now yes, even if I wouldnt count players like Brodin as anything super special. Forwards equal to Brodin we have plenty of. But what young U23 D is there that already plays in NHL that are even remotly close to Karlsson or Hedman level? I can not think of any. Just because it looks good now, it do not mean we can stop producing D for 10 years or so, that would cause the same gaps we have seen among forwards. Karlsson and Hedman is 10 years older than Dahlin, so when Dahlin is as old as they are now and maybe entering his peak, Karlsson and Hedman will be 36 years, then you will be very glad that we have Dahlin. But sure I agree right now we need forwards more

I missed today's game.

What is your evaluation of Elias Pettersson's performance in this match?

Late reply, but someone mentioned him as being "underwhelming" and I kinda of agree with that. Was expecting more but at the same time the game overall was not very exciting. Hope to see more of Elias as the tournament progresses and opposition gets tougher.
