No one said that, but he doesn't pick the team. He's a kid who has to follow the coach's orders. The vets get the benefit of the doubt all the time over young players, happens in nearly every team.

I'm not arguing any of that. He's a good player, an asset to Team Sweden. Maybe he hasn't gotten a fair shake in the SEL due to age, but that doesn't change what's happened so far.

The Swedish head coach isn't going to play Liljegren on the 2nd PP unit because he has a .53 PPG while Brannstrom has a .2 PPG in the SEL. He will see who looks better at practice on the same playing field. Brannstrom looked excellent running the PP in the summer.

Is Lindstrom actually going to be the #1c or was he just a placeholder whie Andersson sat out the exhibition games?

Pretty surprised Högberg starts the tournament as the #7...

has been top 4 through summer series, pre-tourney games etc.

And had forced his way into the top-4 on the best team in the SHL before leaving for the WJC. And has right around 57% Corsi on the season in the SHL.

Even taking Orange tinted glasses off it would seem objectively he is at worst Swedens 4th best Dman right now ability wise.

Surprised me as well. Think he will get his chances though.

Moverare getting the A and being seemingly a top 4 guy concerns me especially (I want Sweden to win the tournament... generally do most years being a big SHL fan and following Swedish prospects most... plus Swedish heritage, albeit like 150 years ago!). I think he is probably the worst Dman on the roster and I am not even sure he should be on the roster going off what everyone has done this season.

This, the cut of Elvenes and Lindström being in effect 1C concern me as the tournament progresses.

Agree, some weird stuff going on for sure. Moverare will likely cost us an important goal or two against the better countries, his skating is just terrible. Lindström getting the POG award after this first game baffles me.

I doubt they will beat finland or canada. Those teams plays structured and quick hockey. This swedish team looks like a juniorteam from superettan. So sloppy. I blame the coach for this. We need Rönnberg back badly...

I would have Pettersson as a center, that would ofc cause a gap on the wing, but that is a gap that would not have been there if they didnt cut Elvenes, but either way i rather have a gap on the wing than on centers.

Not sure what to think about this game, it was overall ok but not more, but it do not really matters if we play good or bad against them, this say basically nothing about how good or bad we are. We won that is what matters.

The refs was little to sensitive i think for both teams, but that goes hand in hand with how it looks like in NHL.
