Ah ok, didn't know you could carry more than the 12F/6D in WJC or at least exhibition. Hopefully that means Liljegren roves through all pairs to see Dahlin-Liljegren :D

Teams can carry the full 20 skaters in actual tournament games as well. Nobody has to be scratched for player limit reasons.

Sweden's biggest hockey podcast (NHL-timmen) ranked the Swedish team #4 and I think I agree. Sweden is a contender no doubt, but the team probably gets a bit overrated because people don't look that much beyond the top names on this team. Finland this year is arguably equal in top end talent and seems to have better depth.
Are there any podcasts from Sweden in English that would cover the WJC that you would recommend?

Alexander Nylander - Linus Lindstrom - Elias Pettersson
Lukas Elvenes - Lias Andersson - Jesper Boqvist

Two balanced lines elite scoring lines
I feel like Andersson has been on that top line so long that they are hesitant to break them up. Don't think scoring depth will be a problem for this team though.

Too bad I won't be able to watch the game that streaming site should really rethink their options.

Anyone watching this? Which side is Dahlin playing on, and who is Liljegren playing with?
They are rotating it seems. Dahlin has been on the left so far and took the penalty that led to the first American goal. Liljegren took a dumb retaliatory slashing penalty at the end of the 1st.

They seem to be giving the guys trying to make the team more burn that the locks. Makes sense.

To me, it is a little strange. If he is to be rested, rest him and give him the day off completely.

He's Sweden's best RHD by far. If he's going to play at all, he should be lined up with his regular partner (hopefully Dahlin), not as seventh D-man.
He's taken shifts with Dahlin this game. They are trying to give the fringe guys shots to see what they have though. It is a fine balance.

Edit: And is now taking a shift with Brannstrom.

Would have liked to see them use at least one finished unit for this game. Have to make room for Brännström as well. Elvenes should play on the 2nd unit with Nylander and Andersson on the first.

I really liked Brannstrom coming into the 2017 draft. I wanted him to be who the Leafs picked (assuming Liljegren was going to go much earlier). Would have been ecstatic with either.

Very excited to see the two of them play at this tournament.

Maybe, just maybe, they were resting Liljegren against the US because he's actually used to play vs NA-competition?
"Nooo, thats crazy-thinking!!!" - right?
