Its almost always better to go 4 forwards and 1 defensmen. 9 times out of 10 the extra forward has better hands and offensive ability than the defensmen to drive a lane to get a scoring chance.

Even if we ignore that this is a short tournament and a 3-2 setup might be easier for guys with no chemistry, this would still qualify as that "1 time out of ten" where the D have better hands than the fourth forward. Both Dahlin and Liljegren are more offensively skilled than any Swedish forward not named Nylander/Pettersson/Andersson.

You think Liljegren has better hands and offensive ability than Boqvist? You are delusional. He was alnost drafted in first round for his skill alone.

In regards to Nylander's release, I wonder if that quote "We'll see next week." was actually from a few days ago, which would once again make today the relevant day. Guess we'll know soon enough!

All I can say is thank goodness no pre-tourney Canada-Sweden game. Has there been a game against Canada pre-tournament where Sweden has not lost a player to injury?

I'm not sure the roster freeze applies to him, as he isn't on the NHL roster (active or IR). So, it is unclear what his status is and when the deadline is.

Buffalo has absolutely handled Nylander like complete garbage.

For starters, he should have been in the OHL last year, and not the AHL and he played terrible. He was hurt to start this year but he's been terrible on Rochester as well.

The best course of action for him would have been OHL or SHL his first two years, with trips to the WJC in both those years.

They'll send him for his confidence, but man, they're dropping the ball on the poor kid.

It would be good for Team Sweden if he at least gets one full day of practice with the team before the first game of the tournament.

Yes, in 59' there was one game where nobody was taken out. But to provide some context, there was a blizzard over the Atlantic so the steamer Canada traveled on was delayed two weeks and they could only play the game with four players (all with dual citizenships that already was Europe). But the most funny part was that the Swedish goalie, a 14 y/o named Björn Gunnarsson, was injured during the warm-ups by a shot from a Swedish player.:laugh::laugh:

Sooo... what the hell are the Sabres/Amerks doing? The tournament starts is 5-6 days and they haven’t said anything about Nylander coming or not. Bush league
With each passing day it seems less and less likely. Weird they would leave it this long without atleast setting a date that he will join the team if they want to keep him with Rochester late.

I mean that is literally leaving it to the very last day as final roster have to be submitted on Monday. Seems like they should know one way or the other by now lol.
Sweden promised sabres to be patient. It will benefit both parties they said so basically they admitted that they are releasing nylander
