I'm actually wondering if the officiating got in Swedens head because they COMPLETELY unraveled.

US might as well hand the gold to Canada if this is the type of officiating expected for tomorrow.

The officiating was bad both ways, give it a break.

The best player does not necessarily play in the best team.

but it helps.

however the Swedes have always been shrinking violets when the game gets hard.

Russia, I believe, has lost the most gold medal hockey games on the international stage. But the flip side is the Commies got there, unlike many other Countries.

Congrats on Sweden winning all those round robin games, and congrats on kissing your sister as well.

You can't be serious. If anything the Swedish team could had more penalties called against them. All in all they didn't do that bad a job, really had no influence in the outcome.
One of the referees was an American= Daniel Stricker and the other was Finnish- Anssi SALONEN.

What's great about the future is that anything is possible.

Just like Canada continuing to dominate best on best.

These tournaments are coin flips. Not a real indication of where the best hockey is played. Just look at the NHL, which country produces the most players.

Canada obviously deserved to win. They were clearly better. Only line on Sweden that felt like it could score was the 1st line. Sweden never really tested Hart, he only made the easy saves and he got a perfect start right after coming in, with Sweden shooting the puck right at him. Wouldn't be so convinced with him.

Will be cheering hard for USA in the Final though, like i usually do when you guys face each other, that's for sure. Not necessarily because you beat Sweden today, but because once again, you prove that you're the sorest winners in hockey. You guys are all talking like Sweden were the ones trashtalking before the game, even though it was in fact you. Besides all this, you despises embellishment and "cheating" more than anyone else. You value playing hard and being tough more than anyone else. Yet who were the ones selling it left and right today? Your best players. Embarassing. No way i could cheer for a team like that.

I guess you are just ignoring all the Americans from the U24NA team that were kept from playing on the US team.

Nah, it was definitely the officiating ;)...

as you pointed out so many times during the tournament...and again today.

Can't wait to see how much you complain about it tomorrow.

The better indication for the future is more likely looking at the players that could be in the tournament that aren't because they are in the NHL.

Honestly, if the refs called everything they could have, Sweden would have been in the box a lot more....Should be a great gold medal game tomorrow

The only thing embarrassing in that game, was Swedens performance.

Humour me.

Karlsson is in a group with Keith, Doughty, Weber, Subban, and Josi. Karlsson very well could be the best of the group, but Hedman, Burns, Suter, and a few others are in the next tier of defencemen.

Even if you want to take one or two guys out of that top group, there is still a handful of guys between Hedman and #2.

Probably yes. With our choking history against Canada in playoffs and especially in North America. And Canadian players a little more used to physical, direct play and use of cheap tricks/do whatever you need to get a win I think it's likely that bad refs gets under the skin of our swedish players even if it's bad refs both ways. That's pretty clear if you look into the history, especially in the WJC I would say.

There was an awful lot of Swedish crap after the whistle tonight for you to be throwing that around.

Weird game. I liked that Canada played aggressively and in a traditional Canadian style for several stretches of the game, and Sweden had a lot of trouble during those stretches. Roy and Cirelli were good once again, and Juulsen really raised his game. I found Chabot not as good as he had been, but he was still good overall. Hart looked mostly good (though not his glove) but that may have been mostly the Swedish players shooting at his chest. He controlled his rebounds at least. Ingram gifting Sweden two goals was perplexing... he's gone though.
