Canada will probably be more prepared for what could happen than us because of how the groups were and the kind of teams they faced. Both teams can win though.

01:30 CET? First of all i hope TS means CET +1 otherwhise it's 02:30 for Sweden. Either way the idiot american organizers have done it yet again. No one is gonna watch this when working the next day. golfclap

Sweden has CET. You are thinking of GMT. CET is GMT +1.

If it's gonna be this late it might as well be an hour later so I can watch the last period when I wake up.

The biggest disadvantage playing Canada in the semis: You can't watch the game. I haven't watched a single game this year. First period vs Slovakia in QF is all. What a clown group Sweden ended up in. I guess that to some extent is a backlash from Finland winning last year.

I don't understand the game is played in Canada against Canada you're only mad because it's inconvenient for you

I took a day off from work tomorrow just to be enable to watch the game.

I think good in group stage and worse in playoff will hold true for Sweden. I've hardly watched WJC at all this year - I'm just guessing Canada will overwhelm the Swedish players in a important match.

4-1 to Canada.

Thing is that while we have been extremely dominant in the group stages earlier years we haven't been playing like that this time around. Yes, we have won. But we should've won all those games as well, and many of our players didn't start playing really good until the last two games or so.
Canada should be favorites, but I could definitely see us being a lot better in the playoffs than usual this time around

Get a recorder and tape (or save rather) it? Watch it in the morning before work?

So Canada prefer $$$ instead of gold? :sarcasm:

Normally, the host play always the first 1/2 with 1/2 and final as back to back games.

I think the idea is to get this in front of as many fans as possible, but I see how you could mistake that for sponsors.

This will get ugly. 6-2 Sweden. Last 10 minutes or so will be about whiny Canadian players looking for ugly plays which will result in a injury on a key player on team Sweden, as usual.

I don't see how Canada can win this. Sweden is a notch ahead.

Sorry, my Canadian friends, no medals this year either.

Canada will win this game as always against Sweden. Has Sweden ever won a elimination game agains Canada in WJC?

4-2 Canada

No...and even going back to the days when there was no official gold medal game, ( most memorably circa 92 to 97, circa Forsberg Sr and Jr era ), Canada and Sweden met several times in what amounted to unofficial GMG's...those invariably were won by Canada as well...

I'm not sure if I want to ruin my sleep and stay up for this one. Canada will win of course, like always. Swedish D will be thoroughly exposed by competent competition, they have not looked good in their own zone.

Perhaps they are, but it's hard to say for sure when they haven't faced any real competition yet.

This is a good year for Sweden I think Canada can challenge them but we're far from the favourite this game.

Yeah this is definitely a North American thing, and is totally different in Europe

The best example I could give is tennis tournaments, where if a Canadian makes the semi-final in a tournament here they will always play the night match (and play every match in primetime leading up to it), even though that theoretically puts them at a disadvantage for the final due to the quick turnaround.

I learned this rather quickly when I went to England in November and figured the Murray/Milos semi-final would be Saturday night. Ah well.

As for something pertinent to this topic...4-2 Sweden.
