Given Sweden's bronze medal game record to looks like Russia's medal streak is going to be safe for the time being.

Without an extreme forcheck Sweden can play their game. Will be a good and fast game if both teams manages to put there losses behind them. This team is better than the 2 previous years.

If Sweden loses this one we really need to create a thread discussing what Sweden really has achieved in the tournament this year. Given the fact that they played in a pool that has to be classed somewhere between the Division I and JWC, only starting to play proper teams in the semis and the bronze game and losing both has to be seen as the biggest disapointment (way way) after Finlands this year.
Though they really can´t be blamed for being drawn into a pool such as this, but I mean, those classing Sweden as a gold medal contender from watching them play those teams would be like classing Russia going for gold from just watching them play Latvia and Slovakia level of teams. The defense and the goalie aren´t even being tested while the offense can play a total different style of play and just steamrolling, which isn´t the way you play when facing proper teams.

I think the fact their pool was so weak was the reason why Canada was able to dominate. On paper Canada should not have been able to dominate them the way they did but man the game wasn't even close. It was very noticeable by the way Canada was cycling the puck, winning battles and all the mental mistakes Sweden made.

I think Sweden will dominate Russia tomorrow, they won't be caught off guard again.

Yeah, I think so too. It was as if Sweden continued to play friendly matches from december 13th up to january 2nd and then started competing only tonight - BAAM. While the teams in the other pool have been competing from day one with the Canada - Russia as opener.

If last year is anything to go by give Russia the bronze.

That was comedy... about ~5 Swedes actually turned up to play.

Umm... it is mostly people outside of Sweden classsing us as "Favorites" especially TSN calling us the favorites before the Canada game. It is just classic anti-jinxing. I don't feel at all that the Swedes pumped their own tires out of proportion.

Sweden looked pretty deflated.

I'm cheering for Tre Kronor but I think the Russians have this.

Not to provide ready made excuses, and not to sound like a whiney Tre Kronor apologist ( Canadian ice, homer refs, blah blah ), which I'm most definitely NOT...BUT...

Never liked it when one team has to play the late, followed by early game. Not enough turnaround time and it often shows on the ice. Too bad there couldn't be an off day between semis and finals...24 hours between games should be the absolute minimum...

NOT expecting much from, let's face it, a crestfallen Jr Kronors 2morrow. Looked like class of tourney going into semis, laid ANOTHER BIG FAT EGG vs CANADA!!!!

Swedes got embarrassed in bronze game vs Yanks last year...Got embarrassed by an, on paper, vastly inferior SVK squad in 2015 Bronze game...Most likely Russia spanks them silly on the morrow...

A la Canada, Sweden don't do bronze games....

Then again, u can count on one hand how many times jr kronors showed their best in a meaningful game vs our juniors...

flashes OK sign ...

OH CANADA BAByyyyyyyy

Mark my words, if these teams were not full of chokers this game would be the finals!

God knows I'm not one to pump Yanks tire's either....BUT DONT BE RIDICULOUS. Team USA is the only undefeated team left in tourney. They beat Russia TWICE, plus they beat our boyz pretty handily in round robin...

How many good teams did Jr Kronors beat?

flashes OK sign:popcorn:

SWE win
Russia team demoralization(

Both teams are demoralized, BUT...

It was GOLD or BUST for Jr Kronors this year. Finns, Yanks and TC were all missing top U20 Nhlers. Sweden weren't missing ANYBODY...

They were the favorites going in. This was supposed to be their year!

So long as Russia scores early....Swedes WILL pack it in...

Not really sure which team to pick in this one. Bronze medal games are less about which is actually the better team and more about which team has the motivation after a crushing loss.

I also agree with the other posters that have pointed out that Sweden suffered due to the general weakness of their pool. Wasn't their fault, of course. Finland, as defending champ, was supposed to be a serious contender, not a relegation level team. In a funny roundabout way, Finland managed to stick it to Sweden once again.

According to who? Canadian media? One guy on TSN says Sweden are the favorites, everyone else copies.
