Sutter comes out for face shields

Darryl Sutter said:
I believe the one time they shouldn’t have the helmet on or the shield on is warmups. That’s the only time they ever get to do anything on the ice without it. I think that’s their right, their identity. That should be their 16 minutes for people to see that, ‘He’s got blond hair or sideburns.'

There's been some scary incidents in warmups recently. Maybe they should just skate slower, get some real face time.

That's good.
I know players often resist protective gear because it's uncomfortable and whatever, but seriously.. it's your long-term health. Use it and you'll get used to it. It sure as hell didn't affect Robitaille, and it doesn't seem to affect Crosby, or Jagr, or any number of other elite players either.

For a second there I thought sutter was coming out of the closet for an organization called face shields.

Visors and cut resistant socks should be mandatory. The Senators losk Karlson and the Rangers lost Staal because of their pride.

The pro fight crowd won't like it, hell we still have some mouth breathers on HF who criticize a player if he wears a visor.

At the very least it should be grand-fathered in starting next season

it needs to happen. if i was an owner/gm i would require it. hell with the PA. i'm the one paying their salary and i want to insure my investment. not to mention the players own health.

sometimes the players need to be protected from themselves

hell im even at the point that im going to finally put one on. all it takes is just that one freak accident and you lose an eye.
