-23. Worth every penny.

He has been so far. Norris candidate one year and another very solid year last season. No Wild fan cares about how he's playing right now when the entire team is playing like ****, and awful goal-tending is inflating that statistic anyway. Embrace the tank and come back next season, Suter will be just fine.

Guy's playing that many minutes a night along with the wild playing extremely poor. Suter's still a tremendous player. The +/- is such a garbage stat to use as an argument.

I think there's a reason most coaches don't play their number 1 D 30 minutes a game, especially at age 29. All that ice time has to take a toll.

btw, I doubt his TOI is the issue. especially since he's used to play half of the game and is only 29... that's the peak age for defensemen...

Think he was rushed back in the lineup and playing 30 minutes a night again too soon from his mumps illness.

These guys are human beings. He had the mumps and as we all know tragically he lost his father this summer right on the eve of training camp. He will rebound, but it isn't surprising he is having a difficult year in what might be (I would assume it has been) the most difficult year he has had personally.

-23 in 20 games must be a record.. He was truly terrible tonight, Pens were schooling him all night long.
almost certainly not a record.

bill mikkelson was -82 in 59 games in '75. greg joly was -68 in 44 games.

He really isn't. His positioning is still great, his instincts and reaction are usually right, he makes the right play, makes the right pass, it really is an extremely rare case of it being everybody else. Can't fault him for the goaltending or for people not finishing while he is on the ice.

Is it possible playing him 30 minutes all those years may catch up to him.

14-15: 29:35
13-14: 29:24
12-13: 27:16
11-12: 26:30
10-11: 25:12
09-10: 23:58
08-09: 24:15
07-08: 20:34

All those years of 30 minutes... yup

He's playing too much and the goalies behind him suck. Minnesota needs to do something about their goaltending ASAP. Put nearly any defenseman in the league in his position and the results would be the same or worse.

Suter's in his prime. There's no reason a defenseman of his caliber can't be excelling in that role like Drew Doughty is.

Doughty is playing behind an elite two way centre in Kopitar and in front of an elite goalie in Quick though. The situations aren't really comparable.

He was never as good as advertised.

Minnesota is a trainwreck right now. Are they going to be winning while Parise and Suter still are good? I don't think so.

don't watch minnie that often but i was surprised at how gassed and off he was last night (i think he was on the ice for 6 of the pens' goals?). judging by this thread it wasn't just an one-off but a trend. not to be all armchair-psychologist but i would hazard that he is still affected by the loss of his father (they seemed pretty close). this plus mumps, plus crazy minutes, plus team-issues are probably why he seems exhausted?

He was way better than advertised. People thought he wouldn't be a legit #1D without Weber. He's been consensus top3 defenseman in the league ever since the signing.

My point was he has been logging the highest minutes of any player the last 3 years, in-case you missed what i was getting at. Thats more minutes then any other player for a 3rd season. And even in 11-12 he finished with the 3rd highest ice time in the nhl. Of course that cant be wearing a player down can it.
