Suspension for Marchment contact with Referee?

A hit on a ref, even a weak one, falls under 10 game suspension.

Should get a couple games.
Suspensions for physical contact with officials are EXTREMELY severe, and they should be because f***ing with officials physically makes a mockery of the sport. But in this case, the league asked the official if he thought it was anything, and he said no, so that's really it. It seems like it's case closed.

I wonder what the pkayer said?

By the letter of the law any time a ref or linesman tries to invervene in a scrum and gets shoved or even nudged away by a player, gosh well that's ten games right there, isn't it?

Or are we being too liberal with the term "physical force"?

The league officials have already determined there won't be anything to come of last night's act; ref's discretion, it was a total nothingburger.

I can't wait to see him get 10 games and we're still waiting on someone to get sat for a single game for the various times we've seen the goalies run this playoff, and the fun discussions that will create!

id like to see him get it but nothings comin. the ref didnt even give a penalty lol.

He didn't do it with intent for it to hurt, much less injure, but he definitely did it on purpose. The precedent has been set for suspension on any intentional contact with the ref.

Marchment not getting a suspension here would be a wildly inconsistent message from a league known for being predictable and steadfast in their decision making. :sarcasm:

It’s actually pretty hilarious that he isn’t getting suspended.
Why the ref wouldn’t write up an abuse of official report is beyond me.
Are they in-laws or something?

There's not much there on the video. The ref doesn't even react to it so it appears he barely touched him if at all. It's not like Dallas fans would care though. We've been calling for him to be a healthy scratch for about 7 straight games. He can't skate and just takes stupid penalties. For every one great play he makes, he will make 10 bad plays.

Hopefully Dallas trades him in the off season. I can't stand watching Bambi try to skate.

How long has he been "bad"?

Haven't really watched him since his Florida days, but points wise he seems to still be a ~50 point player.
Did he get injured/still not near 100 and he can't skate?

I think the ref gave alot of leeway there to not react. Imagine doing that to Kerry fraser or bill mcreary back when they were around.

An oldie but still a goodie when it comes to using your stick against officials. I thought it was an automatic penalty / suspension.

He hasn't been awful but he leads the team in minor penalties taken in playoffs- fans are getting sick of watching him and Jamie Benn constantly put the team on the PK while generating f*** all offensively.

When the playoffs start, his offense dries up but his dumb penalty habit continues. That's what makes him bad.
