I don't think you can do that, it would be a bad precedent if its only a fine.
Vermette was a deliberate (insane) act. This is not the same.Antoine Vermette got a 10-gamer for something similar.
Think if the Ref himself had called a penalty they probably wouldn't have done anything, but being he didn't I think there may be something. I don't think the NHL will want to let that be a thing.
This isn't as bad as past touching the refs incidents. Maybe they give him a game or two but it definitely won't be anything crazy
I'm going off how they normally handle questionable things that don't get called in the course of the game. Like if you board a guy, catch them high, etc. and get tossed early they let it go, if not then you normally catch a 1 game suspension.I see it the other way around. If the ref didn’t react, it strongly suggests we’re missing some context here.
