Summer Hockey for kids

My 8 year old wants to play summer hockey. Are there leagues for his age group that play in the spring/summer in Edmonton?

There are some 3 on 3 leagues that seem like a lot of fun for kids. Not sure what they are called though.

River Cree has had 3 on 3 spring leagues in the past but are undergoing a management change at the moment and nobody has any info as to whether they will this year.

United cycle runs a 4 on 4 during July and August in Spruce Grove that my son played in last year that was pretty good.http://www.summer4on4.com/

If you want him to play serious 5 on 5 hockey then you are probably looking at a AAA spring team that require tryouts and significant time, travel and financial commitments.
