Impressive! Total gut check, high character, no quit in last 2 periods. With QM#27 out this team took over the last two periods. Somehow this loss feels like a win. If you weren’t convinced before tonight’s game, Chucky has arrived!!
Oshawa Announcers are very good but their so called elite top 6 were no where to be found in last 2 periods. Total Homers. At least NB announcers would acknowledge the work ethic and heart of the Wolves players.
If Oster wasn’t in net, we win this game hands down..
That's facts

To be quite honest, I had them on mute a little into the 1st period

Very unfortunate news

The rebuild is officially on - on the bright side, I always like to see what players can step up and take advantage of an increased role on the team. Lots of room for players like Henderson, Chitaroni, Dean, etc. to play an increased role. I'd really like to see Dean get consistent top 9 minutes - I see a good player there

Wolves should’ve traded him after all. Wonder if he comes back the same with the broken hand- could mess up shooting etc?

Kudos to Papineau for not moving him, he'll surely get great value now.

The bright side(or dark depending how you look at it), this offence without Musty and Molnar for the long term might end up out of the playoffs which would be good for the draft picks.
I still can’t see North Bay or Peterborough finishing above you guys even without musty and molnar

Petes will definitely be behind, but I could see North Bay catching Sudbury. Who is scoring goals for the wolves with those two out? After Walton, you've got Pharand who has only scored goals in 5 games this year and Coughland who started the year on fire but has not scored since October. Offence is going to be tough to come by.

On defence McCoy is going to eventually burnout if they keep playing him at his current rate, DeAngelis has already started to show some signs of burning out. Playoffs or not will come down to Krawchuk and Marshall, finishing 6-7-8th is all the same because I think this team will struggle to steal a single game off of Kingston/Barrie/Oshawa, especially with the assumption the wolves sell off at the deadline.

The best part about this though is the young guys getting more ice time, let's see what Dean/Henderson/Clayton/Chitaroni can do.

Yeah, may have struck out looking. I've seen too many players not return nearly the same in the season of broken finger(s), hand, wrist to be willing to make a big offer for Musty without a lot of conditions now. Problem is not many teams that would be interested could afford to tie up conditional picks.

I predict Villeneuve and Walton really pick up the scoring with musty out and more added responsibility. It’s inevitable they were going to have to after the deadline anyways. Now Sudbury may as well just trade musty now since he won’t be healthy then and with so many questions about how his health will be after along with still his attitude problems- if someone dangles a high pick 17 year old like Hopkins or a 16 year old FRP that gm needs to be fired.

Probably a mainly picks trade now for musty with lots of conditionals regarding health and production.

Chitaroni is solid from what I’ve seen and I’ve heard Henderson has been bringing it lately. May be a blessing in disguise for one of those guys with musty out they get more responsibility.

Is there any word on adding another import? Nemec and Chovan are probably not coming over as they are playing really well overseas, but maybe there's a chance?

My goodness!

Life is so unpredictable
Man I just figured it might be something like that. Brutal luck.

Molnar isn't dead! No one said he’s missing the rest of the season!

Papineau will land up keeping him as he has a history of overrating his players and will expect way to much for Musty. This is what happened last year at the deadline he expected way to much and lost out on a lot of players that could have made a big difference. Musty is signed he knows his chances of going to a contender now are low so just ride it out with the Wolves and head to the AHL when the team exits early.

Funny it didn’t really look like a team that should sell off to me last night. Basically dominated Oshawa for good parts of that hockey game, would’ve won without Oster and played most of the game without Musty to boot.
If anything I was wondering if they might be tempted to add a piece or two, roll the dice and see if they could make a little noise now that they’ve actually got a coach, goaltending and a system. Also for anyone saying they should’ve traded Musty right away then I guess I was wrong. It wasn’t the band Styx that wrote the song Crystal Ball, it was you guys.

Musty should have been traded right away for a lot of reasons imo; injury risk was just one.
If the wolves are to add, I hope they are at least two year players.

Wolves are 1-6 this season against the top 4 teams in the east, they're benefitting from an easy schedule. They're not a team who is a threat to win games in the playoffs right now. They're also the 4th lowest scoring team in the east who just lost their biggest offensive threat. Not to mention they continue to lack discipline and lead the east in penalty minutes.

Plenty of people in this thread called for Musty to be traded, pointing out the risk of him getting injured if he came back to Sudbury instead of sitting at home.

Why? And for who? If Papineau would have traded him for a 4th line 17 year old and a 4th round pick you would have been all over him for accepting that.

Musty is still tradeable and still for a much better price then what was being offered before he came back. I feel bad for Musty as, for the most part, he was doing what he needed to do to help the team and make himself a better 200 ft player.

The temptation would have been there but the right move was always to trade Musty. Not enough depth especially on the blueline to make any noise. Aside from Villeneuve and Walton, this team is not going to be good next year so some holes need to be filled

Wow I can’t believe how many “half empty” Wolves fans are on this thread.
Albeit bad news for Musty, the Wolves and Team USA the season isn’t over for anyone.
An 11 game sample size produced 20 pts and this is enough for other teams to strongly consider him as a contributor for a playoff run.
Dr. Marek is now forecasting recovery time on this injury. Wow he has many hidden talents. I think he gets off breaking bad news related to the Wolves?? I guess he needs to feel relevant.
Depending on the severity of the injury Musty will be back sometime around the deadline. Most likely has played his last game as a Wolf. First and foremost, Very unfortunate for the player and his team. Musty returned to the Wolves and seemed to be a changed man. A good teammate and player.
I for one remember the Barney Wolves pre-Musty and Molnar and they were good! Hockey was fun to watch and it still is. Look how this team played the last two periods in Oshawa. Unless this injury requires surgery and is more severe than being reported, Musty WILL be traded to a (smart) contender.
He’ll move on and so will the Wolves. This was inevitable but not supposed to happen this way.
More opportunity for our young players to step up. Our youth had the good fortune to watch a young professional play and now this small mentorship will benefit our future.
Thanks for coming back Q, I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery!
All the best in the New Year with you new team.

You know where the break occurred? I’m skeptical of 100% normal by playoffs.

There was most certainly better offers than 4th liner plus 4th pick, c’mon.

He has a no trade clause he goes to a team on his short list, that may be why he was not moved immediately and chose to stay in Texas with his girlfriend

I may be slightly exaggerating but only slightly. Anywhere he wants to go is not in a position to make a value offer or maybe any kind of offer until January. Agent handled this situation badly and totally misread the market.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me an offer that you would accept. I'll even give you some help. Western Conference contenders which there are maybe only 3 legitimate ones.
