I'm embarrassed to ask this, but...

How do you put your tongues under your shinpads/socks?

I typically wear tongues out but I would like to try putting my tongues under the pads. But when I sat down to put em on recently, I was stumped!

My normal process is putting my skating socks on, then my shinpads, then pull my hockey socks up, then the pants, then the skates.

If it put my skates on first, I can't get my socks on over the skates (obviously). If I put my pads and socks on, I can't pull the socks up far enough to get the shinpads on.

Do you just pull your shinpads and socks away from your shin and jimmy the tongue up underneath??
Help me figure out this riddle!

My method is a bit unorthodox, but here's how I do it:

Compression shorts and cup
Hockey socks
Hockey pants
Skates

Then I pull my hockey socks up to my knee cap, put my shin pads on and pull the socks down.

Seems like a lot of people do it different from my method though, would love to hear how they do it.

Do you have skateguards? Socks are quite stretchy and would slide on over your skates if you have the guards on to keep them from slicing up the socks.

My personal process (which I know is weird) is socks on but not pulled up, then skates, then shins (tongues tucked under), then pull the socks up and attach them to the compression shorts, then pants over all that. I leave my guards on as I put the pants on to keep them from slicing up the inside of the pants.

I've seen other people put on pants first, then socks attached to the compression shorts/garter, then skates, then shins and pull the socks down over the top of the shins. Or you could go pants, socks around the ankles, skates, then shins and pull your socks up.

haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one confounded by this. I mean, I'm glad you all have found ways to make it work, but they're all totally different methods.

My problem is the bottom of my hockey socks are too tight to pull all the way up. Maybe I'll just force em to stretch out, but I hate when they look all floppy at the bottom.

First world problems I guess.

I put on everything..jock, shin pads, edge socks, pants, then skates and when I goto tie my skates I pull my shin pads up so I can get my skates nice and tight and then push them back down into place

Put on shins, socks, and pants and then put on the skates and slide the shins down over them. Not too tough.

Jock, skate socks, pants, hockey socks, skates on, slide hockey socks down onto my skates, shin pads on, pull hockey socks up and connect to velcro.

Jock on.
shin pads on, then pull the socks up and attach to the jock velcro stuff.
pants.
both skates and tie them up all the way.
Pull the shin pads out at the bottom and tuck the tongues into my shin pads.
Roll the bottom of the sock over about an inch under the pad and tuck my laces inside that.

Do you want me to make a youtube video on how I do it so you can get an idea. Personally I find it's the simplest way to do that.

Jock and socks first, then I put on my skates and tie them, I then pull my socks over my tongue's, slip in the knee pads, tape em up and put my pants on.

Everything on, pull up shin pads, put on skates and tie, then pull the pads back down over skates. Then tape over my socks last once everything in place.

My shin pads have the Velcro straps to keep in place, but still need sock tape to keep secure.

Shin guards, socks, (pull shin guards up a bit), skates (pull shin guards back over the tongues). pants (mine have zipppers on the side just to fit skates.

Yeah a video would be gold. This is a question that is always asked.

yep .. same here

Ive seen others put everything else on and 'slide' the shin pad into the sock and over the tongue afte they ties the skate. Guess it depends on preference and sometimes the shin pad type and sock type.

my shinpads came with velcro straps but i just snipped them off and prefer pad tape.

That's so funny because I do something similar. It goes jill, hockey socks, stick socks onto jill and pull up over the knee, then skate socks, shin pads, skates, pull up shinpads and cram tongues underneath, pull socks down over the top. I have heavy legs so I just find it easier to stick my socks on before pulling them over the shinpads

- put on all my undergear, including 3 and 1 cup
- put on my shin pads
- put my socks on onver my shin pads, attach the top of the socks to my cup
- pull socks up to the knee cap of my shin pads
- put my hockey pants on
- then put my skates on, tie them, then put my shin pad over my skate

easy

I just starting putting the shin pads on the outside of my skate tongues. This is the process I found to be the fastest and easiest.

Put cup on, then shin guards on, followed by hockey socks, pants then skates. As you are tying the skates pull the shinguards a little away from your shins and tuck the tongue under. This requires them being slightly looser than normal around the bottom of the shin guard. Then I tape the outside of the hockey socks with clear tape. This makes up for the pads being slightly loose.

garter/jock, socks (only thing that won't fit over my skates), skates, shinpads, pants (I have the zippers).

Shins on first, then hockey socks, then pants, then put skates on, pull up shins a bit, tuck tongues under shins (and still leave the shins sitting a bit high), tie skates, push shins down and clear tape them. Whole process takes like 3 minutes.
