I just bought a brand new Mission Intake. Low and behold, I'm all excited just to get shot down by a stripped screw in the part that allows me to adjust it. Any recommendations on removal?
You don't have to bring it back. All pro shops carry the replacement screws and will usually put it in for you at no cost. No big deal. They fall out all the time.
You're right, you don't have to take it back, it's not your new helmet. The fact that he just dropped a good chunk of change for a defective helmet is of no consequence to you.
Return the helmet and get what you paid for, a new, non-defective helmet. There's no reason you should have to spend additional time and money to fix the screw up (no pun intended).
As I said, most pro shops will do this for free. All this venom for stripped screw. Return it or don't return it, I don't really care. I am sure they will exchange it for you. All I was attempting to say, is that replacing a stripped screw is no big deal. Pro shops do it all the time. Try the other side of the bed next time.
It's a hockey helmet...they get scratches, and scuffs and all kinds of marks on them. If it were my sons, we would not deal with the hassle and replace the screw. As I said, it is no big deal. If it couldn't be replaced, which by the way seems to be the case, I would return it and the pro shop or wherever I bought it would most likely be happy to provide a replacement. My sons brand new helmet looks like it has been through a war. But that's because he plays hockey. He could care less what his gear looks like. He isn't in it to look good. Now you have a brand new helmet with a broken screw and a nice new scratch. Sound like something you'd want to drop $100 on? When you have to earn the money yourself, it makes a difference.
Know what's awesome? When you have a stripped screw on a visor... you're trying to get it out but the screw driver slips and skids across the entire front of the visor leaving a horrendous scratch...
Love that.
Worse is when the screwdriver slips when you are trying to remove a stripped screw from a cage. Especially if you are still wearing it while trying to remove the screw...
