Some people from these forums as well as other islander fan forums are going to play street/dek hockey Sunday morning in Lindenhurst from 1030am-330pm.

We play in sneakers with a ball, no equipment necessary (stick of course, most people wear gloves, few wear shin pads) 5v5 with 2 goalies, maybe a sub each team. Ages range from 15-45 year olds, semi-competitive, very fun! We already have the two goalies, but if anyone wants to play forward or D, you are more then welcome to come. We have timed periods, we keep score, it is pretty cool. Plus we talk hockey.
Snacks and drinks are provided, so shoot me a PM if you want to come down.

If we get enough people we can do tournament style 3 teams of 5, game to 3 or 15 min. game (whichever comes first) winner stays on! Eventually the winning team gets tired and a new winning team will stay on. We play for several hours its a blast!

here are some links of us playing 3 weeks ago

Cool man! I play out on Long Island on most weekends out in Smithtown at the Smithtown Library. The place used to be an old Armory before converted to a library/soccer field/park etc.

We had a dude hook up a go pro to it last weekend and taped the whole game.

I would definitely play with you guys if it was roller, instead of on sneakers. Still awesome tho.

Nevesis, that place above is in Smithtown? Never seen it before...the ground looks like hell for wheels though.

There's a park in Smithtown that I've gone to from time to time. Anyone know of any other places on the Island that has roller?

Yeah I actually play in the mens league at Rapid Fire. It's only once a week though, so I'm looking somewhere to play outside on the weekends.

Anyone else play at Rapid Fire?

Messed up my ankle real bad playing ice hockey in November and still can't really skate yet, which sucks. I'm a bit of a drive from Lindenhurst (Westbury) but this seems cool

Its in the same parking lot as the Smithtown Library. (if you know where that is)

148 Smithtown Boulevard
Nesconset, NY 11767

Check it on google maps...

The surface is pretty rough, but even. Its regular asphalt, so I have to put my Labeda Asphalt wheels on and im good to guy.

I don't know if you guys who play there are aware, but you are literally a minute down the road from the body shop that Mike Komisarek's dad owns (which is coincidentally across the street from my mom's office). Maybe Komi played there at one point

Baldwin and Long Beach both have outdoor rinks that use sports court as the surface. Lynbrook does also but you need to know somebody with the key to play there. Valley Stream just reopened their league again, not sure if the rink is open to the public when games aren't going on though. Valley Stream is an asphalt surface. Garden City is also an asphalt surface but open to the public.

Tully, Eisenhauer Park still have a rink, I used to play there, many moons ago

There's a rink in Mineola- not sure how to describe the surface. It's not sport court or anything like that, but it's too smooth to be asphalt.
