Many NHL players have had great nicknames- 'The Great One,' 'Le Magnifique,' 'Rocket,' etc.

But what do you consider to be perhaps the weirdest nickname for an NHL player, past or present?

I say it's Mario Tremblay's- "The Bionic Blueberry."

Doug Gilmour: Killer?

.....wat? I don't get it.

I like Al Macinnis' original nickname of 'Chopper' in light of his awful skating (think Scotty Bowman in Microns)

the zetterdrake thing was pretty funny on the stick that zetterberg and drake shared. and that isnt what she said.

Marcel "Little Beaver" Dionne:

Why did they call you ‘Little Beaver’?

(Laughs) That name originated in juniors. There was a famous midget wrestler in Montreal and Gordie Howe saw his name in print and gave that to me. It just stuck. Even to this day, he still calls me ‘Little Beav’. It something you’re proud of and amazing that he still calls me that.

Does anyone know how Bobby Clarke got the nickname "Whitey"?

It is mentioned briefly in Gene Hart's book. Nothing specific as to a person or time but a reference is made to Clarke's appearance after practices/games due to exertion. Possibly something that goes back to his younger days and when he was treated for diabetes. He suffered on-ice seizures in his early Flyers' days and a trainer named Frank Lewis put Clarke on a diet plan and a requirement that he drink Coca-Cola on a regular basis.

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks bud.
