We don't have the C depth to handle that right now. I'm not comfortable with going Step, Brass, Boyle, Moore.

I like john moore's speed and he has a pretty good shot BUT his defense still needs work. Now Del Zotto has his own issues as we know so its not like either has earned a guranteed spot every game
Fans don't see the players from ice level every single game. Fans don't attend practices. I have seen the last two games, but Moore hasn't been playing all that well to be guaranteed a spot in the lineup.
Plus, maybe AV actually wanted to see Del Zotto play his natural position for once.

The bottom pairing should be a fluid situation. It is why you carry 7 defenders. If the 7th guy is not worth playing, get rid of him and find someone who can. Moore being out can help him. Del Zotto looked better today that any game on the right side. Falk has been fine too. It is good to have 7 quality defenders. I said it earlier today, it might not be a bad situation if Staal gets a game to watch. He has been decent but not great. I'd try it and see what can come of it.

I'm not really hooked on John Moore just yet. I wanna see DZ on the left for at least another 5 games
a lot of Rangers were atrocious in Boston. I'm ok with a one, two game wake up call, but I really don't want to see MZD playing consistently over Moore, who I think fits AV's system better.
That he recovers way better than Del Zotto does when a pinch goes **** up. If you want your defensemen to constantly jump up, then you need them to be fleet enough to get back into the play in some capacity if the play goes the other way - and that's going to happen if you jump into the play as often the ranger Dmen have been this year. McDonagh can do this, Moore can do this, Staal can do this to some degree - though he's not as fleet as McD and Moore; when DZ pushes up and something goes wrong, he's done for and a non factor.

I really like J. Moore as a player/prospect, but without a shadow of a doubt he has struggled a bit this year. For whatever reason, it seems like at least once a game he commits some kind of egregious giveaway in his own zone, or some other similarly bone-headed play that just leaves you kind of scratching your head. Obviously he's not losing us games, but I think after DZ played well back in the lineup, and Falk looked fine, it makes sense to give them another game. The previous poster who summed up the point of carrying seven defenseman was exactly right. It sucks to admit, but for me, Moore's play has been up and down enough this season that I have absolutely no problem with him sitting another game. He'll be back in the lineup soon, he's young, I really think it will only help him in the long run.
