Yeah, still doesn't make sense. There's nothing wrong with Mike's play. He's been hurt, but he's a solid player with no issues concerning his play.

Why would he be on the market right now? DeAngelo has been great and Murphy is continuing to develop in a positive way (inch by inch) but the only other NHL caliber RD the Coyotes have available to them is Luke Schenn. So yeah, maybe later in the season you trade Stone if contract negotiations aren't going well, but no need to trade him before talks start on an extension. The Coyotes need the RD depth anyway.
