Proposal: STL - Your Top 9 RW

Whats the scouting/injury report on Berglund? Pens are deep at RW and even with the Sheahan trade weak at C. If Bergy is expected to come back healthy mid season we would be willing to send Sheary the other direction I suspect. Sprong is quickly running out of things to prove he is capable of in the A and is due a callup in about a month. Hagelin is also available but is a LW only and more of a middle 6er. Pens could then run:

Guentzel - Crosby - Hornqvist
Rust - Malkin - Sprong
Hagelin - Berglund - Kessel
Kuhnhackl - Sheahan - Reaves/Archibald
as much as i like Sheary he is a LW but you have my attention. No retention no added pieces.

As much as I love trades and want to see the Blues make a move. I dont see them entertaining a trade till they have exhausted internal options. I have the feeling they are itching to get Kostin in the NHL. Then if that doesn't work...Thompson will get another shot.

Could there be a deal around Edmundson and Ho-Sang? Isles are more then likely going to need a De Haan replacement

The only thing the Blues would be interested in is a proven 2nd line RW who is definitely better than Sobotka and all of our other prospects. We don't need another 3rd line player. The only roster D-men who could be involved are Gunnarsson and Bortuzzo. I'd also rather not trade Sobotka or Berglund unless we're getting someone back who's definitely going to improve our 2nd line.

So pretty much...a combination of one of our 3rd liners or Gunnar/Bortz, a prospect, and a pick for a 2nd line RW coming from a team that wants to rebuild. The Blues have some cap space because of all the injuries.

Personally I don't hate this at all. I'd be even more delighted if you would add in Reaves and take Thorburn back :)

Edit didn't touch base on injury. Berglund I believe is/was expected back in December at some point I'd say January at the latest barring a setback.

How about we just undo the draft day trade? You send Sundqvist and Kostin over and we will return Reaves and Lauzon back to you?

I don't dislike Reaves but the 4th line of Kuhnhackl - McKegg - Reaves isn't doing much for us. Replacing McKegg with Rowney isn't going to do much for us either. We had the luxury of putting out guys like Kunitz and Cullen on the 4th last year, but they're gone now. Kuhnhackl can't come out of the lineup because he's one of their top penalty killers so we need an upgrade at C or RW.

I agree with most of what you posted. I just dont see any good players that will fit this mold. I would Say duchene but Sakic wants the moon for him. At this point I am willing to wait till next year for Thompson and Kostin to come up. They will fill our needs and on top of that Fabbri will be back. No need to go after lesser players for the here and now. Blues are doing ok.

No take backs sorry

Too many of these deals are looking at making a bigger trade than the Blues realistically need. We'd be looking for a middle-6 guy who can chip in, and we don't really need term.

Nash only makes sense if he is very cheap, and that isn't a first+. He has averaged 45 points per 82 games since the start of the 2015/16 season, he has had injury issues and he hasn't started this season particularly well. No incentive to pay a price for him when an in-form rental would likely be cheaper.

We have Tarasenko, Schwartz, Steen, Schenn, Berglund and Sobotka signed to multi-year deals. Fabbri will be back next season in some role. Stastny or a replacement centre, and then a glut of prospects. Adding another long-term piece doesn't make sense.

The early Bozak for Berglund proposal? I'd do that.

Or as STLBLUES44 suggests, going after someone like Stempniak as a rental makes a lot of sense.

:) Would be easy to attain and certainly be a positive impact player we can move on any line in any role. Always missed him tho obviously happier with getting steen for him.

No .isles love the speed and skill JHS brings

Snow says they were able to deal Hamonic because of the glut of young blueliners .Pelech, Pulock and Mayfield on the nhl roster.Toews,Vande Sopel and Wotherspoon in the AHL pushing for nhl jobs
