Phew...I thought it was going to cost Pastrnak, Spooner and 2 firsts. Good trade for the caps. It might be their year.

If the Blues knew what Parayko was they would have drafted him in the first round and not three total busts before him.
Good move by the Caps but last I heard there aren't a lot of undisciplined penalties in the playoffs so PP chances are normally few and far between.
And that's what his specialty is, eh?
Teams dont get cred for getting lucky in a later round, they get cred for going off the board. If the Blues knew what Parayko was they would have drafted him in the first round and not three total busts before him.
Using luck for your assessment of a scouting team will never work out well.

Washington has to be the odds on favorite to win the cup now. That defense is just silly.
That's not how drafting works. If you know a guy won't be considered until later rounds, you don't blow picks before him if he'll still be on the board later.
hes not as good as people are thinking. i honestly think the name recognition counts here. but wash didnt give up that much it seems like a straight up fair trade.
minny with the mumps. stl unloading a bit. Chicago rolling. like it
Anything less is an epic choke.
No excuses left for WSH now.

No, if you know someone will be a star you pick them up asap. Had Detroit known in 1999 what Zetterberg would become in the NHL, they would have drafted him in the 1st, not the 7th round. Heck, had Atlanta known they would have picked him 1st OA.
Is Shattenkirk fast though? That's the only question really. Caps need a fast defenseman good in his own end to compete with Pens.

Shattenkirk skates between Orlov and Niskanen for speed. He is not that good without the puck or in his own zone. Reirden and Trotz will have to coach him up.
He does not PK and therefore again is like Orlov.
This a right handed Orlov with more experience.
