Pietrangelo, Fabbri for Provorov, Giroux

I think both teams will need some kind of a shake this summer. And this is as perfect shake as possible.

I don't like this trade for Philly. I think Pietro and Giroux are close in value but I feel like Provorov has significantly more value than Fabbri.

Interesting. Both sides offer plenty of quality.

Since Piets is a righty I can see, as a Flyers fan, where you coming from.

Parting with Giroux would hurt a lot but giving up Provorov is like a nightmare. Curious what others will say.

Why? Pietrangelo is probably top5 defenseman in the league and top10 for sure, Fabbri is young, promising and can play a center. Of course, Provorov is a stud, but Giroux it looks like kinda losing himself in Philadelphia, he needs someone like Tarasenko to find his game again.

Right now they aren't close. They were close 2-3 years ago. Pie > Provorov, Giroux > Fabbri, it looks closer to reality.

I don't think Hextall would part with Provorov for anything less than an insane return. He's the golden child.

Pientrangelo is now what Provorov will probably become. Or not become. There is a chance Provorov will be better, than Pie, but I don't think it's a big chance.

Giroux has to have close to negative value considering he cant score 5v5 and his contract. I don't see why STL does it even though Provorov is fantastic

Giroux on the Blues is an idea I love to think about, maybe he turn around his slide he is on, I have been a fan for a while. BUT he will not return Petro on a 6.5m contract. I would not mind the risk of paying Giroux 8.275 for 2 to 3 years but if he continues the decline for 5 more years at that hit .... I hope he turns it around I miss the old Pens/Philly threads about Giroux being better than Crosby, made for good board reading

I knew there'd be a Devils fans with a ridiculous comment about Giroux on the first page, I just figured it would be the usual guy.

I like Giroux but his lack of production at ES is becoming worrisome. Also not a fan of his contract.

Pietrangelo is a non-starter for me as well.

Giroux and negative value in the same sentence :biglaugh:

You're confusing being a good player with value.

He has the 11th highest cap hit and over the last 3 years, he ranks 203rd of 315 who have played at least 1500 minutes. Yes, he is an elite PP player, but the guy scores at a third line rate at ES. You can't be one of the highest paid players in the league and perform like that.

I'm firmly convinced that the only players in the NHL the Flyers would include Provorov in a deal for are McDavid and Matthews. Obviously, that's not happening, and just as obviously, those aren't the only players in the league whose value would justify a deal in a vacuum, but the opportunity to lock in a #1 defenseman for the next decade (our first home-grown #1 defenseman since Jimmy Watson, IIRC) isn't something we're giving up unless we're getting back a player so insanely talented and marketable that ownership would fire Hexy if he didn't do it.

That's not to say Pietrangelo and Fabbri aren't great players, but Provorov on his ELC is too great a value to give up.

(Also, G's apparently still been recovering from his hip surgery, and hasn't been 100% all year, but that's neither here nor there.)

Just another dumb Flyer trade suggestion, thank you, ignore thread button.... :)

Giroux carries way too much risk to return what the Flyers would want. Kind of similar to what Nash was in Columbus before he was traded. I'd expect Giroux to return something more similar to that now.
