Janmark not getting Knob approval as a C is a big reason why Philp was called up. He is also not big.
Going from Ryan to Janmark was a downgrade at #4C

Saad may be better than Arvidsson and Kapanen as well as Perry , Brown and Janmark. He just isn't a true need.

Maybe adding him let's us move Nuge down to 3C and Henrique to 4C.

I didn’t think the dude was so far gone. In my defense - Saad had a hat trick the week prior, but still, I regret this one lol. A lot of my terrible trade guesses died when armchair gm went offline and now I’m making a new pile of mostly awful guesses.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Toronto is the one that grabs him tho. I like the “why” part of my fail guess; a bit of really cap cheap winger insurance for playoffs. Obviously not worth assets but if acquired free at league minimum…I’m sure if Toronto gets him, or if they stay away, they’ve gotten amazing advice: Berube would know.

Two Oilers rejects have contributed greatly to the Blues in a solid 25th spot in the league.

Kap's been decent as a middle six winger who can also PK. This isn't the gotcha you think it is.

The guy's averaged 20 goals a career essentially his entire time in the show. He'd be one of the better support wingers we've tried with McDavid/Draisaitl. Again, not the gotcha you think it is, maybe worry more about your own club making the playoffs.

I don't mind that lineup, aside from the fact that it feels like we are wasting Henrique on the 4th line, but it is a solid lineup. I don't think Skinner gets back in without more injury issues. I think they hold him out and he eventually accepts a trade.

Kapanen has been fine here in a depth role. Saad would really only be useful in the top six, in my opinion. He has been a decent addition to scoring lines in the past. I'm not even sure if I want to give him a chance, but if we do, its probably a good bet that he sees time with McDavid, just to see if there is any chemistry there.

So he can sign with a contender for min, or sign with a lower team where he will have plenty of playing time to show he still has it and then that team trades him to a contender half retained.

Throwing away $4m+ for "a chance" to be back in the NHL at age 32 is certainly a big gamble. Of course, it's a lot more defensible when the guy has $45m worth of career earnings vs. Zadina who did it with far less.

Obviously, there are a whole whack of contending teams that would happily pick him up at league-minimum to $1m for the balance of the year.

Part of me wonders, if he might take an alternate approach of going somewhere like Chicago, Anaheim, SJ; on a 1-year deal at something like $3m, in hopes of building up some vale, and then getting retained 50% at the deadline to a contender.

He's just like Saad(same point totals with one extra goal for Skinner). Knoblauch just will not cut Skinner any slack at all. It's actually laughable at this point

Skinner plays East West, and needs puck. Not a fit. Saad could fit better. Maybe they move Skinner to a different contender.

A fun fact: the Oilers are in St. Louis on Tuesday to play the Blues. That means Saad could debut against his old team and fly with his new team right after to their next game. How convenient is that?
