I'm surprised Edzo didn't openly weep at RF losing a franchise record. Jesus Christ he's tough to listen to with his clear agenda. I'm one that thinks people freak out too much about how we are treated on national broadcasts and such, but that was pretty transparent.
It wouldn't be so apparent if he didn't lean in so hard in the 3rd as we extended the lead. The Dundon comments were so out of left field and out of line for the game, just couldn't deny it anymore.

And for these studio guys, goalie hasn't been our issue in the playoffs, we go ice cold offensively and that does us in. Has happened every year to us, with the lone exception being Game 6 against NY last year.

Goalie was 1000% the issue last year. Prior to that, not so much.

Edit: And to be fair, they didn’t blame goaltending overall only “getting that one save”. That could just as easily be, getting that one shot to go in on the other side too. (See Jarvis hitting the crossbar in game 1 vs Florida in OT).

I didn’t watch this game, but it looks like Rod finally broke up Svech and Aho on the top line? If so, thank god. Both great players, but clearly they weren’t working well together. And for whatever reason, Martinook seems to be a better fit there. At least temporarily.

Martinook (please don't take this wrong) is a worker bee and he WORKS! makes him never a liability on any line. however he's not got a great shot but it does simplify the line there's less pressure to give it to the other guy.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the only time he’s gotten time on the top line this year was the 3rd period of the Colorado game and tonight’s game. And he and his line have produced in both instances. That’s more than not being a liability.

I’ve always loved Martinook for the personality and the play style, but he may have/be in the midst of a legit leveling up of his career. In 22-23 he set a career high in points and and was only 2 points off it the following year. He had that crazy playoffs in ‘23 also with 12 points in 15 games, then the following playoffs only 4 in 11 games but one of them was the huge game winner against the islanders and he had that incredible diving save that ended up being for naught against the rangers. And this year he’s humming right along with 12 points in 18 games, on pace to crush that career high. Maybe he really is blooming late like players sometimes do
